Gratitude and turn taking

This weeks themes will be gratitude and turn taking.

All pupils are encouraged to think about things and people in their life that they are thankful for. They are asked to recall acts of kindness towards themselves from others. This will allow them to appreciate how small acts and words can have a big impact upon emotions.

This week has started positively with pupils learning to take turns and share resources and games with other.

Meet the teacher

This year Meet the Teacher will take place online. Each class will receive a video link on their GoogleClassroom on Wednesday 2nd September. ย As pupils attend The Greenhouse part time, I will post a video that can be viewed from their registration class Google Classroom so that parents & carers can view our Learning Resource Centre and meet the team working with the pupils.

Thank you

Mrs Nelson.

W/E 28th August

This was a busy week in The Greenhouse! Along with the targeted Numeracy & Literacy tasks, pupils participated in a wide variety of Health & Well-being (HWB) activities and outdoor learning tasks.

This week children weโ€™re working on sharing resources and using The ABC of talk. They learned all about linking words and worked together to create new sentences. They used language to communicate their wants whilst working together and practised co-operating with others.

A fantastic start!

The Greenhouse pupils have had a fantastic strat to the year. They have been learning how to work together on team tasks, games and activities.

The children completed an outdoor scavenger hunt where they had to work in pairs or threes to source and identify everything on their list.ย  They have also been learning to listen and follow instructions by completing outdoor games and working on their balance using the play equipement.

Within the classroom the children have started to focus on their maths and literacy tasks including spelling, comprehension and reading and writing. They have learned the ABC of talk and began to use the strategies when investigating their rights and drawing up the class charter and rules.

One of the most popularย  and enjoyable tasks this week has been when the pupils applied their numeracy tasks of weighing and measuring to make some cupcakes as part of a small team. They learned to follow a recipe, creat a list of ingredients and the importance of imperative verbs. The end result was thouroughly tasty!
