P3 Koi Fish

Koi fish are a common symbol in both Chinese culture and feng shui, depicted on artwork, clothing, tattoos and even with live fish used in landscape design. By knowing koi’s long history, it is easy to see why other traditions revere this beautiful fish. P3 sketched then edited their fish.

They are now working on colour.

P4/5 Architectural Journey.

Stemming from a writing project Windows to the West, pupils researched photographic images of Glasgow’s iconic buildings. They looked for the visual elements of line, shape and  pattern. Pupils chose their image and then traced over selected lines. These tracings they then used to create beautiful pen and ink drawings. This project took many weeks to complete, a tremendous effort p4/5!

P2b Taking on a Stag Beatle.

P2b closely observed the majestic shape of our native stag beatle. Well impressed by it’s war like antlers! They had to think composition and scale initially. Then they sketched the three main body parts before adding horns and legs. Finally they edited their own sketches with marker pen. Great attempts all round. Can’t wait to see them brought to life when coloured!

Mandala Madness P4-P7

What is a Mandala? The word mandala is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to circle. It represents wholeness or whole world. It is a representation of the universe and everything in it. Traditionally believed to be the circle of eternity organized around a unifying centre. The pupils created  detailed mandalas using repetitive pattern. Working from the inside out. They used a variety of pens to attain desired expression.
