Hi everyone!

In numeracy, we have been doing graphs, length including converting kilometres and metres, multiplication calculations as well as coordinates. We have also played ‘Hit the button’ to practise our multiplication tables. In mental maths we have been doing the daily ten to practise place value and multiplication tables. We have also learned mental strategies for adding and subtracting 9 and 99 too.

We have been learning about possessive adjectives in our grammar lessons. We’ve got up to chapter 4 in our class text, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. So far we think it’s quite interesting, mysterious, exciting and funny. We’ve also been practising our comprehension skills by creating questions for our class novel too. In writing, we wrote a piece called “Into the wardrobe” which described an adventure into our own imagined worlds with a focus on describing the characters and how they were feeling.

As part of our expressive arts, we have also created Scottish words pop art as part of Burn’s Day celebrations and also learned how to draw a realistic eye too.

In French we have learned how to write the date and practised the days of the week and months. We are learning how to say parts of the body now.

Our new topic, the USA, started this week too. We learned about its place on a world map, saw pictures of some famous landmarks and listened to the Star Spangled Banner, the national anthem of the USA. We are looking forward to learning more about the different states in the USA and the presidents who have been in charge of the country.

December 2021

Hi everyone!

In maths we have been learning about symmetry, time, angles and graphs. We are focusing on our multiplication facts and show off our improving skills in class when playing ‘Elimination’.

In literacy we wrote about our proudest moment and we wrote a descriptive poem about snow. We have also been sharing the stories we write in the morning and deciding who is the awesome author in each team. We have been enjoying reading Project X books at home. We have shared the questions we have written for each chapter with our peers and some of us wrote a fact file based on our book ‘The Amazon’. These were fabulous to read and displayed lots of hard work and excellent reading skills.

The Christmas fun day was amazing! We were able to meet Santa, pat a reindeer, go on a bouncy castle, have an indoor snowball fight and enjoy hot chocolate and selection boxes. We would like to thank our wonderful PSA for organising this for us.

We had a great time designing our Christmas crafts and these are now proudly displayed in our homes or given as a gift to others.

Today, we are just about to watch a pantomime called Mother Goose and in the afternoon we are going to have a party. Can’t wait!

Remember to go into Google Classroom to watch our Advent Service.

Merry Christmas and best wishes for the new year everyone!

Stay safe and we’ll chat again in the New Year.

We took part in  Christmas card competition to create a design for a local MP. We had a runner up in our class and her design will now be sent to print works!

We all had or second session at our committee which is excellent for giving us a voice.
