September

Primary 5 has been lots of fun so far! We are feeling settled and learning loads of new things. We have made new friends and gained lots more knowledge in the last few weeks- check out what we have to say below:

Numeracy-

Joshua- ‘I liked learning more about division. I liked learning more about it so I can get more practice. I also liked doing the shields in topic. We coloured them and gave clan names.’

Rose- ‘I liked learning about BODMAS because I didn’t know you had to do a calculation in order. i also love PE with Mr Harkins.’

Freya- ‘I’ve been learning the 4 times table which is fun. I am good at it! I also enjoyed making the name tags for the wall.’

Shahzain- ‘I like learning algebra because it helps me learn more about the steps of maths. BODMAS stands for brackets of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.’

Literacy-

Venkata- ‘I like doing writing, especially the Autumn walk poem which rhymes. I also like to learn about our topic because I like to learn about the battles and how Scotland won.’

Mo- ‘I like doing the stories and how you can get creative with them. My magic potion is my favourite one so far.’

Inaaya K- ‘I liked writing the story of The Wish granter. We watched  a video with no words and then had to write the story with words.’

Adam- ‘Miss Hillhouse is reading the next Wayside school book to us and I love the new characters. I also like outdoor learning because the noise of the water is relaxing.’

Forest-

Orla- ‘I really enjoyed going on the Autumn walk. It was fun to walk to walk through nature, i felt very free and I could do my own thing.’

Snigdha- ‘We made mud faces in the forest. We had to pick up the mud and splat it on a tree. My face had grass as hair and sticks to make a necklace.’

Sophia- ‘I like exploring the forest. I like going in the water.’

Health and Well-being-

Nicola- ‘I like the cushions, they are really really comfy. We have the cushions for group points, we work hard for the cushions so we can get them to sit on. I’m in the gummy bears.’

Millie- ‘We cycled to India to raise money. It was really fun and it more about yourself and how much you could cycle. We also finished the Wayside school is falling down book. It was really funny and there was lots of different characters involved.’

Ibrahim- ‘We watch newsround everyday. It tells you all about the news in one short clip. The footage that we see is interesting.’

Inaaya H- ‘I like mindfulness because it is a good way to get all the hard stuff out of your head. We can find out own mindfulness spots in the classroom to relax.’

Zikora- ‘I like going to the forest to express how I feel and explore nature. I also enjoyed having St Cadoc’s day. We had church in the classroom.’

French-

Alaiyna- ‘I’ve enjoyed learning the French numbers. It’s becoming easy.’

Art and Music-

Thomas- ‘I liked drawing the landscape because it was so colourful. Mine is on the wall outside!’

Ashlin- ‘I liked making the puzzle pieces because you could tell people that you are unique thought artwork.’

Tobe- ‘I enjoyed drawing Spongebob it was really fun!’

Matthew- ‘We made name tags. They are to show what our best work is in the classroom.’

Social Studies and ICT-

Kene- ‘I liked learning about King Alexander and how the new King of Scotland was chosen.’

Mia- ‘I love doing the sumdog and maths games.’

Daksh- ‘i really liked the quest we did, William Wallace challenged us to find out about his life. I also really like art moscis, they were a more fun way to do maths and it form a character in the end.’

RE-

Abby- ‘I like doing the crosses. We had to cut the cross out of paper and use tissue paper. Then we put it in a laminator to make it look like a stained glass window. It was really fun and relaxing.’

Leah- ‘I like learning about the Saints. Just now we are learning about the disciples just now.’
