Hello again!
It has been a very fast month…We have had so much fun being back we can’t believe it’s nearly June!
Literacy
We have been continuing our learning from last month with Paragraphs and Verbs. We have also looked at subordinate and main clauses within sentences as part of our Grammar work. We continue to revise our spelling rules using lots of different strategies we have learned in P4! We enjoy presenting our work and sharing what we have learned with each other. In Writing, we have written a super chronological report and continued with our imaginative creative stories, ensuring to keep the structure: introduction, build up, peak and conclusion. We have been using our super Thinking Reader workbooks with our class novel. This has been a great way of consolidating our knowledge of reading roles!
Maths
In maths, we have been learning about Multiples, Factors and Primes, Data Handling and Number Sequences. We continue to work hard using a range of mental maths strategies and practising our multiplication tables often! We have recently enjoyed taking part in a Snakes and Ladders Problem Solving challenge – it was great fun and super team work! As part of our Data Handling topic, we took a survey of the trees in the playground and recorded the information in a tally chart which we then converted to colourful bar charts! We also used metre sticks to measure the height of the trees (see images above). We continue to work hard as we near the end of Primary 4 in Maths and Numeracy.
RERC
We continue to prepare for our First Communion and have enjoyed designing and decorating beautiful art-work for our special day. We have been practising our Mass Responses to ensure we are fully prepared. We enjoy taking part in daily prayers and praying the rosary during this month. We continue to try our best to follow Jesus and share God’s word with others.
We really enjoyed Sport’s Day and can’t wait for it again next year! It was super fun to take part – we felt so proud of ourselves. We have been using our Rights Respecting Schools Passport as part of our Learning for Sustainability topic this term and through this, have been learning about important world issues. We understand that as Global Citizens, we have a responsibility to look after our planet and also have an important role in contributing to wider world problems. We can all make a positive difference!
We continue to reflect on our learning and our overall journey in P4, and look forward to evaluating our goals and next steps for Primary 5 and beyond 😊
