—Primary 4B—MONTHLY BLOG—- East Renfrewshire site

April 2021

Hello again! It’s been truly delightful being back in the classroom with everyone 🙂

The pupils of P4B are so happy to see each other again and have been working super hard since returning before the Easter Holidays. I hope you enjoy reading about our learning in different curricular areas!

Maths

We have been learning about 3D Shapes and their properties, Symmetry and Angles, Number Patterns/Relationships and Data Handling. We have been continuing to practise our mental maths strategies too, such as partitioning numbers and identifying near doubles during number talks.

Literacy

We have been learning about the use of Paragraphs as well as Verbs in past and present tense. In addition to this, we have been continuing to investigate new spelling rules each week. We have been learning about Persuasive writing, and created an excellent letter focused on the recent Colin the Caterpillar debate!! #freecuthbert

We continue to present our work often to the class and enjoy doing so! Recently P4B worked together to create excellent presentations about Earth Day and thoroughly enjoyed sharing and presenting their work to the class. We have started reading an exciting novel from The Spiderwick Chronicles series – ‘The Seeing Stone’ – and we are intrigued to find out more about the characters!

RERC

We look forward to reciting the Rosary during the month of May and we are thoroughly enjoying the preparations for our First Holy Communions, following our Reconciliation. This is such an exciting time for P4 and we can’t wait! We recently wrote a beautiful prayer to thank those around us who are helping us to prepare during this special time. We will also be learning about the festival of Eid.

We have been talking about our Rights as our topic this term is Rights Respecting School. We continue to talk about our Rights often as well as our role as Global Citizens. In HWB, we have been learning about how we change as we get older as well as harmful substances which harm our bodies such as tobacco.

We look forward to what the rest of this term has in store for us…. we will keep you posted on Twitter 🙂
