Over the last few weeks, we have been absolutely loving our Outdoor Learning sessions! Each week, we have a different curricular focus and have been working hard to develop our skills.
On Tuesdays, we have been venturing to the Muddy Movers area, where we have enjoyed a variety of different lessons. In particular, we had lots of fun playing drama games, using materials to show fractions and building on our team-work skills to create an obstacle course! We have also been asked to help plan where to plant 400 saplings (baby trees) that will be getting delivered to St. Cadoc’s in the coming months. We spent some time in the school grounds to assess how to make best use of the available space.
On Fridays, we have been spending time in the Lower Forest. Our favourite activities so far have been completing a STEM challenge to build a birds’ nest and working with a friend to create a Haiku nature poem. A Haiku poem is a special type of poem which has three lines, following a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. Mrs. Glancey was so impressed with our work that she displayed our poems on the wall outside our classroom.
We can’t wait to spend more time outdoors together over the coming weeks and months.
