November’20

What a busy month P7d have had. In R.E. we have been learning that November is the month of all souls and all saints and every day we have been remembering in our prayers people who are no longer with us. We have also sent time learning about Judaism as part of interfaith week. The theme for Catholic Education Week this year was “Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life” we enjoyed watching the Mass Fr Stephen McGrattan recorded specifically for our school. We have started to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation and are spending time to find out about the lives of many of the saints. We are looking forward to our journey of initiation.
In writing we have been focusing on functional writing, personal writing and poetry. We created two poems. One was about about autumn and the other was about Scotland. We created leaflets to raise awareness of safety during bonfire night, an anti-bullying leaflet and a leaflet to raise awareness of the issues of climate change. In PE we have been working on the different skills needed to play basketball and we are getting really good at it and are enjoying playing competitive games.
In Numeracy and Mathematics, we have continued to work on our Mental agility and we are getting so good at times we can answer questions faster than Mrs Costello! We have been learning to solve problems and explain the strategies used and explain our solutions to others. We can now confidently calculate percentages of quantities and can solve word-based problems involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
We all survived our time in isolation, and we all worked really hard on our online classroom. We are very glad to be back in school and reunited with our friends and we are looking forward to our journey through Advent.
