Our class charter

We have a class charter in the shape of a tree because our topic is South America. We made the class charter so everyone makes a promise to behave.

We used our own time to get the materials, such as leaves and sticks. We wrote our names on labels and stuck them on sticks to show symbols of teamwork. We made our own parrots to go on the tree, and added extra feathers to the display. We made roses out of macheti paper and stuck them on to the tree. We also have hands that we made and then gave them to a friend and they wrote nice compliments on them.

There are lots of leaves and sticks to make it look the canopy of the Amazon Rainforest. On peices of paper we wrote our class charter, which are promises we make, including things like be your self, have a good night sleep and listen to adults.

The Daily Mile Run

This year in Primary 6 we have been doing the mile run everyday to keep us fit. We do 6 laps around the school, around to the primary 1 gate and back to the primary 7 gate. Mr. Fogg runs with us to keep us going. We do the mile run in the morning to wake our body up, so we are focused in class . Personally everyone is trying to push there selves to be even quicker. Some people get held back for about 20,30,40,45 seconds – so they can challenge themselves more. It’s also  a teamwork challenge. Mr. Fogg says we need to work as a team group and the first group that comes back together gets 5 pebbles. If you cheat you will recieve… nothing!

Sewing Jellyfish

Today we wil be talking about sewing Jellyfish. The reason we did sewing is because last Sunday was International Jellyfish day. We only found out about this because Miss McLaren had told us abut it. Miss McLaren bought us needles, thread, felt and ribbon from hobby craft. These are the steps: the first step is to cut out a shape simialar to the head of the jellyfish. Next we got different colours of felt and ribbon that we chose.  Then we got the needle and thread To sew them on and we also could used fabric glue to stick on . After that we sewed the other half on and cut out the eyes and mouth with coloured felt. Following that we stuck them on and waited for them to dry. It was a lot of fun and a great technology lesson.

Our Trip to a Festival of Sport

We travelled to Giffnock Sports HUB, and tried our hands at a  lot of different sports.

We played:

Tennis – We played a game called Champion’s Court. Using the racket to improve our hand-eye coordination. We also worked on our balance.

Squash – Practicing rallying. We used a different racket and ball than tennis.

Football – Played matches with different teammates from different schools.

Judo – Practicing holds and ground techniques on the mats.

Karate – We learned how to defend ourselves.

Netball – We practiced passing and shooting.

Athletics – We used javelins, jumped over hurdles and practiced sprinting via racing.

Rugby – We held a ball and used our agility.

There were lots of sports, some of which we liked, some which we disliked but overall we had an amazing time.
