PRIME Legal Work Experience – Summer 2026 (Glasgow) Through the PRIME initiative, Thorntons Law LLP is proud to help widen access to the legal profession for students who may otherwise not have the opportunity to gain legal work experience. Students will spend a week immersed in legal work, taking part in interactive activities, visiting courts and universities, and gaining insight into life as a solicitor, supported by mentors throughout the week. SupERkids

SupERkids is a small local charity based in East Renfrewshire who supports children and young people with additional support needs and their families within the local area.   They would like to recruit volunteers aged 16 and over to support services, which include evening and weekend clubs, as well as family fun days during the school holidays. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for the children and young people who attend.   This volunteering opportunity would be particularly beneficial for students who are: Looking to gain experience for their CV or personal statement Interested in careers such as early learning and childcare, primary teaching, health or social care Working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award (we are happy to support this)   Volunteering with us allows young people to gain hands-on experience, develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, and make a real difference in their local community.

Scottish Careers Week

Scottish Careers Week 2025 will run from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November. This is a national campaign co-ordinated by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and delivered in partnership with schools, employers and the wider community. This year’s theme is “Shape the Future” celebrating the vast range of industries, career paths and support services across Scotland. Support for parents/carers Throughout the week there will be a number of webinars, information sessions and resources aimed at helping you support your child with career choices, including: A free online session: “Supporting Careers Conversations at Home”  You will learn about SDS services, explore research on young people’s aspirations and get practical resources for conversations at home. Access to national events via the campaign hub on the My World of Work website. Covering topics such as apprenticeships, training options, sector pathways and how your child can access support. Resources and toolkits designed for families which you can use at home (e.g., exploring strengths, interests and career possibilities together). Join one or more of the online sessions during the week.  The sessions are free and you are welcome to attend at times that fit your schedule   Ongoing support   Skills Development Scotland career advisors are based within St Ninian’s High School and provide ongoing support to pupils throughout the academic year. They contribute to PSHE lessons and offer one-to-one career guidance appointments. Pupils can also self-refer at any time if they wish to discuss their career pathways in more detail.

Insight into University

University of Glasgow – UCAS Info Session

University of Glasgow – UCAS Info Session The University of Glasgow are hosting online information sessions for parents/carers of potential applicants who are, or will be, sitting SQA Highers/Advanced Highers. These sessions are ideally suited to those with S4, S5 or S6 pupils, but of course anyone from S3 upwards may attend; we also welcome students and teachers/advisers to join. The session will be approx. 60 mins with a UofG presentation, including information on understanding our entry requirements and the UCAS process in relation to applying to Glasgow, followed by a text based Q&A opportunity. Due to high demand and limited spaces, we have introduced a new application process to ensure that this is the right course for each applicant and to ensure individuals are ready to work at SQA Level 5. There will be some requirements to be accepted on to the course like basic digital skills and participants should also be able to read and understand documents with basic policies and theories related to Childcare. (Literacy support is available).
