Manufacturing Engineer – Graduate Apprenticeship
The Manufacturing Engineer is challenged with delivering a vision of operational excellence that is compelling and accessible to all – challenging the status quo whilst building effective working relationships to meet your objectives.
The role is responsible for supporting the Operations team with improvement activities. This involves gathering and analysing data to identify the most strategic opportunities for improvement then, in some cases, devising and implementing an appropriate strategy to address these issues.
Key Accountabilities
• You will be passionate about living the Company values, whilst promoting health & safety and wellbeing.
• Inspire, motivate, and coach the operations team to help them develop new skills and support succession planning.
• Carry out time studies and value stream mapping to assess the content and structure of roles and process stages within the business.
• Utilise data to suggest engineer improvements that will benefit productivity, cost, and Company performance.
• Create process drill down and gap analysis to identify improvement activities to minimise waste within processes.
• Perform validation and verification exercises to evaluate the current actual timing and resourcing levels of the process stages.
• Be aware of ongoing activities within the department and any issues to support the delivery of products to our customers.
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement activity pipeline, both by seeking out new projects and by addressing projects already registered.
• Support Production Manager in achieving goals and objectives.
• Gather and analyse data to provide meaningful and influential information in an accessible and easily understood format.
• Work in partnership with Operators and Supervisors to identify issues and inspire teams to adopt new and innovative ways of working.
You will gain a BEng (Hons) in Design & Manufacture. Furthermore, you will be working alongside some of the world-leading specialists, whilst working within world class facilities.
During your apprenticeship, you will gain great insight and learn the manufacturing processes by spending meaningful time in all of our operation departments. So, you may come to fully understand how we produce some of the best leather in the world. In summary, you will increase your technical skills and capability, whilst developing your academic and practical understanding of the engineering lifecycle.
Four SQA Highers (minimum B Grade) including Maths. Furthermore, you must have a passion for continuous improvement and possess the ambition to progress within a manufacturing environment.
