Software Engineer Apprenticeship – J.P. Morgan

At our Glasgow Technology Centre, we have over 2,000 Technologists developing and supporting global systems using cutting-edge technologies. Joining this team as an Application Developer Apprentice, you will learn how to analyse, develop and test code, while working towards an Honours Degree in Software Development.

The four-year degree apprenticeship program offers a comprehensive introduction to the world of technology within financial services and the chance to obtain a full honours degree alongside valuable work experience at our Glasgow technology hub.

On-the-job experience

You’ll be part of our team from day one. Learning alongside industry experts you will develop skills and knowledge to help you as you start your career with us. You’ll have real responsibilities in a real working environment.

Training

Our degree will be delivered by a blend of virtual and in-person lectures alongside our award-winning internal training. Coupled with the on-the-job learning, this will lead to your obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering.

Career Progression

Upon successful completion of the program, you could be offered a full-time position within the firm.

What will I learn?

You will acquire underpinning knowledge and understanding of software development via a blended online learning and on-campus delivery mode with core IT competencies being developed through an integrated work based learning curriculum. The on-campus delivery will allow you to hone your programming and software engineering skills with support from experienced academics and professionals.

We offer an environment of support and personal investment where you’re give the opportunity to develop your career alongside your personal and technical skills. Our software engineers work on enhancements and upgrades to our existing software and develop new applications as part of an Agile team. You will likely review code and test applications and you’ll be part of them team, making a contribution to our business while applying the knowledge that you’re learning in the classroom.

What qualification or qualities are required?

Entry requirements

We require a minimum of BBBB (or equivalent), including Maths, Computer Science of Physics, at Scottish Higher level (or equivalent) and National 5 Grade B Maths and English (or equivalent). If there are extenuating circumstances and you do not meet these academic requirements you will have the opportunity to highlight this within your application.

Key skills

You’ll need strong communication and collaboration skills, excellent problem-solving abilities and a drive to learn. You should also have a passion for a career within technology.
