Cardboard Creations!

We cut out huge cardboard boxes to make smaller pieces using the Make Do kits. – Isla-Rose

We cut up paper plates to make the shell, fins and head of the sea turtle. – Reuben

Then once we had made our turtles, we painted them! – Annabelle

Litter picking

“I found a lot of glass around the gates,” – Abiela

Making Lava Lamps

On Monday we took part in a Science experiment to investigate what happens when oil is mixed with water ๐Ÿ’ฆ

It was also a great way to reuse all of the single use plastic bottles we have been collecting โœ…

P5 have been working hard to practise their timetables by trying to improve their time on loop cards and answering some formal calculations ๐Ÿงฎ ๐Ÿ“š

STEM Easter bunny lollies

This week P5a have been investigating changes of matter in STEM, we changed chocolate from a solid into a liquid by melting it ย ๐Ÿซ

when the chocolate was melted we shaped it into little bunnies to make chocolate lollies ๐Ÿ˜‹

Refugee Welcome Packs

Inspired by our class novel โ€˜The Boy at the Back of the Classโ€™ we decided we wanted to help real life refugees like Ahmet from the book ๐Ÿ“•.

We have been campaigning for donations and with your kind help we have been able to make lots of welcome packs for to give to refuweegee charity to help refugee children arriving in Glasgow ๐Ÿงก.

We got into groups and decided on the age and gender of the child we wanted to make packs for and then wrote letters to put in them, here are one pictures of our journey!

 

 

British Science Week

P5a had a busy week doing lots of STEM related activities for British Science Week ๐Ÿงช

Mrs Anwar who is a phlebotomist came into tell us how she uses time in her work ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ we then got to try on some of the special equipment she uses in her job ๐Ÿงค

We had lots of fun trying some of the 6 brick LEGO challenges experimenting with eingeneering and creating algorithms ๐Ÿงฑ

The STEM leaders did a fun lesson on speed, distance and time with the children ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ
