Muddy days at Forest School

A great day to be at the forest! First we played a new game, the children had to hide and try to sneak up on a chosen person. This game needed stealthy skills to quietly sneak up whilst finding hiding places.

What a messy day we had a forest school but as you can see the children loved it. The children made mud paint and created their own mud paintings.  As always there was opportunity for play and exploration.

Festive Forest Fun

The Festive Forest Fun was a great success. The children enjoyed spending time with family and sharing the forest with them. We were very lucky that the weather stayed dry. It was great that we were able to share some of our Nativity songs too.

Forest School: Fire Safety

This week Mrs Carwood introduced the fire circle. The fire circle sets a safe distance from the fire. We also impressed her with our recall of the fire triangle.

Mrs Carwood introduced the respect pose. We use this pose when we are near the fire as it keeps us safe and steady near the fire.

We practised entering the fire circle and going into the fire position carefully.

We are looking forward the next few weeks at Forest School especially as our families have been invited to join us.

We’ve had a great time at the Forest!

Predicting Penguins

Today we listened to the blurb of a story. Based on the blurb alone we created our own stories.  These were superb. Children were able to used the characters already established in the blurb. They used their knowledge of the setting to solve the problem and create incredible imaginative stories. We then read our stories to the class. Well done P2!

Book week Scotland

This week was Book Week Scotland. As part of our homework we shared places we liked to read. We’ll be using these places as inspiration for our classroom to improve our reading environment. We also received read, write, count bags. The bag contains two books, a microscope, a pencil and a notebook. The length of Worms

Another fabulous week at Forest school. First we arrived and were very impressed with our new shelter.

Then we heard the story “The Something” by Rebecca Cobb.

We used spades to dig and find our own something.

The children found lots of worms!

Next we developed our knowledge of measure to accurately measure the length of worms in centimetres.
