James and Shay both decided to be architects and challenged themselves to design their creation. The decided to try and make a house so this is James and Shay trying to design it.
This is James trying to find the bricks he needs to build his house.
P1b had a go at the finger gym station: using tweezers to sort the objects into the correct colour!
Lorena and Joey were carefully trying to use the tweezers to pic the objects up.
Kieva, Ryan, Anas, Alfie and Charlie were also trying super hard to use the tweezers!
The circles and the squares were playing lots of games to revise numbers 0-10! We played hit the number in teams. The blue team one by 1 point!
We also used the number fans for ‘Show me!’ The boys and girls were AMAZING at this.
Well done everyone.
On Monday Arya had a very special birthday! We hope you had a special day.
On Friday the children received their jotters home (one writing and one literacy). We do not yet use numeracy jotters in P1 as we focus mainly on using concrete materials. Please bring them back on Monday morning as we will be using them on that day! 😊
Sorry about the homework mix up. We recovered ‘ee’ in class again on Thursday because it was tricky! Thanks for your support however in continuing with the homework, we really appreciate it! Some even learned the new sound for next week which is great. For those ready to move on to Story World 2 stage words, the sheets will be placed in the orange folder this week, apologies again. They have been sent to the photocopier and will be ready on Monday.
Sounds for the week next week:
•w
•ng
•v
•oo
There will be a communications jotter in their orange folder on Monday (a small purple one) if you would like to make a note to the teacher about anything at all. This could be any concerns, questions or a note to check for lost property! So please use these whenever you need to contact me. These will be checked on a Friday so if there is something urgent you would like me to know please let your child know to tell me and I will check it that day or if you can catch me at the end of the day!  😊
Have a lovely weekend!
Mrs Latif and Mrs Sannino introduced all the boys and girls to badminton.
Here is a link to the P1b PE blog. You will be able to see all their amazing learning in PE here.
The Tigers have been talking about shape this morning! We identified circles, squares and triangles as shapes that we knew. We worked in teams to build different shapes with sticks! To make triangles we knew we’d need 3 sticks, to make a square we decided we’d need 4 sticks that were a similar size and for a rectangle we needed 2 long sticks and 2 short sticks. We also had a go at making a circle which was quite tricky because circles don’t have straight sides!
We then had a play with the sticks and some chalk! Kieva, Charlie and Rhys made a space scene, with a moon and a rocket!
Alfie, Ryan and Corey made televisions! They made rectangles with the sticks and drew some scary TV characters inside for Halloween!
Layla and Kameron made a panda! They noticed that their panda had a circle for a tummy!
Well done Tigers!
The triangles, squares and some circles were looking at addition up to 10 and 20! We used the numicon dots to help us.
Mrs Sannino worked with the squares and circles: she was so proud of how well they were working and how hard they tried! (Sorry Mrs Sannino didn’t have the iPad with her!)
Miss Gemmell worked with the triangles and they all did so well! They all loved using the numicon to visualise and play with their calculations.
We are going to continue practising numbers up to 20 as we were getting a bit muddled up with the number 11 and 12, lots of new learning came from this. Well done everyone.
Look at these amazing letters! The Owls were working so hard practising their letters s, a, t, i and p! Here are some of their beautiful handwriting.
