We have started a new PE block, rugby. Today the children enjoyed taking part in some team games.
Music
Today Primary 4b were visited by our music specialist. The children were learning about time signatures – two numbers which come at the start of a piece of music. The children learned a few new songs which they enjoyed singing and making actions for.
British Science Week
To mark the start of British Science Week, our school STEM Leaders visited the class and carried out an experiment. The focus of Science Week is ‘connections’. The children were tasked with working collaboratively to create a boat out of tinfoil. Every group worked hard to complete the task👏🌟. Once all boats were created they were tested on the water to see if they could float and if they were strong enough to carry weights!

Story Mapping
Today during our Literacy session the children were summarising and retelling a well known story, Chicken Licken, through story mapping. The children read and acted out the story before creating their own story map. Next week the children will be using their story maps to rewrite and up-level the story!
STEM – Materials
This week we have been investigating and making predictions about what materials dissolve in water and how to conduct a fair test.
Creative Writing
Over the past few weeks we have been learning how to improve our writing. We have focused on using interesting vocabulary, cool connectives, engaging openers and a range of punctuation (VCOP) to engage our readers. Today we wrote a story about an alien landing on earth. We spent time drawing out our stories during the planning process before beginning to write them. It was great to share our ideas and stories with the class!
STEM – Electrical circuits
Over the last few weeks we have been learning all about electrical circuits, we have learned about the components, how to be safe around electricity, made our own circuits and this week we learned the symbols to draw an accurate representation of an electrical circuit.
Angles
Today in Numeracy the triangle group were investigating right angles and identifying right angles in the environment. Well done!
Numeracy in The World Around Us
Today in Numeracy the circle group researched the use of numbers in our everyday lives and created interesting and informative presentations to share with the class.
