Today in Numeracy the circle group researched the use of numbers in our everyday lives and created interesting and informative presentations to share with the class.
Numeracy Stations
Today Primary 4b were applying their knowledge of the 4 operations at a number of different Numeracy stations to complete several word problems.
Directions
In Numeracy, the circle group have been learning about giving and following directions. Today the group were applying their knowledge to create mazes for Bee-Bots. Once the maze was created each group had to write directions for other groups to follow, using directional language such as left, right, forwards and backward. Some groups even included compass points as directions!
STEM – Electrical Circuits
Today we have been learning how to make our own electrical circuits. We have been experimenting using bulbs, batteries, wires and buzzers.
Grammar
Today the boys and girls in Primary 4b were learning how to use speech marks. The children enjoyed working in pairs to write sentences, using macaroni to represent the speech marks.
Tennis
This term in PE the children have been working on their tennis skills! They have enjoyed working with a partner to develop co-ordination and control.
Numeracy
Today in class the children had opportunities to revise multiplication and division strategies. They enjoyed working with a partner to complete active games.
Music
Today the children were excited to be back with our music specialist, Ms Carey. Today the children were using their listening skills to identify what instruments were used to create music and were able to discuss how certain music can have an emotive impact. They also learned new terms such as crescendo and diminuendo! Excellent boys and girls 👏😊.
Crazy Catapults
The boys and girls in Primary 4b have had an exciting first week back at school. The children worked together to build a catapult using wooden sticks. There was rich discussion across the groups about the process of designing and building the catapult. Each group were keen to ensure their catapult would be able to launch the objects the maximum distance. Once the catapults were ready, we took them outside and worked in groups to launch a range of objects. Once the objects had been released from the catapults, the children used materials such as tape measures and metre sticks to measure the distance the object has travelled. Back in class it was interesting to identify which group had launched their object the furthest distance.
Last Day Fun
It has been an excellent last day in Primary 4b with lots of festive fun, games, dancing and even a special visit from Santa🎅🏼.
Merry Christmas everyone!
