Fabulous Fun Day!!

Thank you to our wonderful Parent Partnership who organised a fabulous Fun day for us today!!  We loved bouncing and playing on the inflatables before lunch and then our delicious treat from the  ice-cream van after lunch!!

We had a fun in class too as we took part in a variety of STEM activities all day!  We worked in small groups to create a model with a moving part using the make-do kit!   Then after lunch we made either sock puppets or  t-shirt bags!  (We will finish these tomorrow! -Boys and girls are welcome to bring in a sock or tshirt to make one)

P2 Science fair

We were lucky enough to visit the P2 Science Fair!  There was so much creativity on display with the fabulous models the p2 children had made.  The children demonstrated that were confident learners as they were able to answers the questions the p5s asked them and they could also state some awesome science facts too!

Great job P2!  We are so proud of you!!

Cardboard Creations

Inspired by Darrel Wakelam, p5b have been getting creative with cardboard and masking tape.  They were developing their engineering skills as they independently followed a set of instructions to create their masterpieces.
Once complete, they let their creative minds take over by designing the sea creatures appearance and the background. There was a variety of tools used to create the patterns including finger painting, splattering with paint brushes, blending with oil pastels and watercolour pencils too.

They then created characters with their creations, researched facts about the sea creatures and have been working together to create stories us their creations.

They are looking forward to bringing these stories to life with our sea creatures!

The children are really leading their learning with this project!

Rock Band

We went to an amazing gig at school today!  Boys and girls from St Luke’s High School entertained us with a fabulous performance of classic rock songs and some fun pop songs too!

The band were displaying confidence by performing to the WHOLE school, resilience when they had to stop to re-tune the guitar and collaboration as they worked together to stay in time and support each other to name a few of the Meta-Skills we spotted in action.

It was brilliant!

WB 10th June

THIS WEEK we took part in ‘St Marks does the Euros’  at our school.  We played against the other P5 class in the MUGA to celebrate the start of the Euro’s.

On Thursday we had a visitor called Gary he works for GRAHAM.  We made lollypop stick bridges .And we tested them by placing plastic bottles on them to see if they will be strong or not.

St Marks does the Euro’s!

To celebrate the start of the Euro’s, the children took part in a football tournament!  They were assigned a team and a country!

straight after break, they enjoyed supporting p4 by cheering them on from the side.   Some of us enjoyed dancing on the grass too!!  We were really getting into the spirit of the tournament then it was our turn to take part!

We played several games against the children in p5a and had lots of fun!  We were respectful, resilient and brave!!

WB 3.6.24

During drama on Monday we acted out a story about the sea turtles we made last week.  All of the groups made up different stories! Then on Tuesday we made our plan for our writing lesson using these ideas. On Wednesday we watched the p6 learning  assembly  then we did a little Spanish to consolidate our knowledge of numeros 1-10.  We learned how to use protractors to measure angles in maths .

We continued our  one point perspective in art with Mrs Mclntyre on Thursday. After that we wrote the story about our sea turtles and we were helping each other  with ideas and suggesting ways to up level our sentences.  We started to make our own cardboard sea creatures  at the end of the day on Thursday. We looked at Darrell Wakelam’s website to choose which creature we wanted to make.  We are working with a partner to create them this time.  We continued them on Friday after our P5 game of Dodgeball P5a v P5b then we played p5 girls v p5 boys!

P5 Litter Pick

As part of our learning about Global Goals 14 Life Below Water and how plastic pollution affects the creatures in the sea, P5 were doing a litter pick around our school grounds.
We enjoyed putting our school values into action by respecting our environment.

Reading for enjoyment!

P5 loved having ERIC time in the Laragh Library today.

We have been borrowing books fortnightly from the fabulously stocked library and sharing our love of Tom Gates, Alex Rider and Greg Hefley amongst other characters with each other!
