Build a bridge

Build a bridge task

Primary 2b were given the challenge of constructing a bridge collaboratively using play dough and pasta.

They had to consider the uses of both materials and the best way to use them.  Through exploring they were able to find ways to make the structure freestanding. Then they discussed different techniques and shapes.

As you can see our final designs are excellent!

Spitfire

Primary 2 watched out for the spitfire flyover on the 17th September 2020. The spitfire was flying as a symbol of thanks for the hard work on the NHS.  Even though the spitfire was far away we could still hear it’s noisy engine. Some of the children then built their own spitfires and excitedly talked about the spitfire. This worked as a great reminder that we should always be thankful and grateful to those around us.

Planting

During assembly Mr Hutcheson spoke about the meaning of nurture.

Inspired by this Primary 2 planted flowers which we will be growing in the classroom over the next few weeks. We will be learning how to look after plants and what they need. In RE we have been looking at the natural beauty in the world around us and growing our beautiful flowers will help us to remember this.

Throwing and Catching skills

Week beginning 7th September

In PE this week we have been working on throwing and catching skills.

On Friday afternoon as our Golden time activity we used balloons to practise throwing and catching skills. The children loved it. Also it was a great way to reuse Mrs Carwood’s balloons.

Digital Technology

P2 have been working hard becoming more familiar with using the chromebooks. Our first task was to try and log on by ourselves. We will continue to work on this, if you can encourage your child to practise logging on at home using their password pass, it would be greatly appreciated.

Mr Hutchenson then showed off his digital skills by leading a live whole school assembly.Primary2  were  very  impressed.
