P1b have been learning all about dinosaurs. We looked at what a dinosaur was and that they lived a long time ago. We know that dinosaurs died because of a asteroid or meteor that hit the earth causing all of the plants to die, because of this dinosaurs did not have any food! We have learned all about fossils and bones. We know that fossils and bones can tell us about what lived in the past. It can also tell us where abouts on the Earth the dinosaurs lived from the location the fossils were found. We explored fossils in the classroom and guessed what dinosaur the fossil could have came from! We used dinosaurs and paint to make dinosaur footprints. We looked at the characteristics of dinosaurs and how dinosaurs like a triceratops has horns. Through small world play we got to pretend play with different types of dinosaurs. We know dinosaurs are either herbivores (plant eaters), carnivores (meat eaters) or omnivores (both!). As a little treat, we sometimes watch Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs when we have done lots of amazing learning!
We have really enjoyed exploring the dinosaur topic so far!! 🙂
