Homework November to February

Thank you for completing, with your child, the homework activity sheet over the last few weeks.  We have now returned to our usual structure of homework which has been glued to the inside cover of the children’s Home Learning jotters. It can also be viewed here P2 Homework nov – feb.

Glued into the back cover of their jotters you will also find your child’s login details for Sumdog if you would like a little more Maths practice.

Halloween

We are almost ready for our Halloween celebrations tomorrow.  The children designed their our pumpkin lanterns and P2b chose the winning design.

Using one of the pumpkins harvested from St Mark’s pumpkin patch we carved our lantern in preparation for our Spooky Halloween Parade tomorrow.

Homework

Last week we started our new topic “My Family”, where we are looking at how our families lived in the past.  So far, we have looked at the toys we play with in the present and comparing them to the toys that maybe our parents or grandparents played with.

To compliment the work we will be doing in class, we have created a P2 Homework Activities sheet that contains lots of fun activities. This will replace our normal program of homework for the next few weeks, the 8th of October to the 2nd of November.

All children should complete the family tree activity and 3 addition activities of their choosing.

Assessment jotters

Each Friday morning, timetable permitting, the children complete a Maths and Spelling assessment based on our learning in class and at home that week.

In response to parents and guardians asking to be kept more informed of their children’s progress, assessment jotters will be sent home every week in the homework folders.  Can parents and guardians please sign the latest assessment (Spelling at the front, Maths at the back) to confirm that they have seen it.

Thank you!

Toothbrushing

Continuing on from P1, toothbrushing is part of our Health and Wellbeing focus this term.

We have been learning that we should:

  • brush our teeth at least twice a day,
  • for 2 minutes,
  • using a pea sized blob of fluoride toothpaste.

This is the great toothbrushing timer we use in class which demonstrates exactly how to brush your teeth during the 2 minute countdown.

Charlie the crocodile

Last week, we have been learning about “greater than” and “less than” with the help of Charlie the crocodile.

A great way to remember the correct sign to use ( > or <), is that the crocodile’s mouth always eats the bigger number.

For example,

6 > 3 or 3 < 6

the crocodile’s mouth wants to eat the 6.

Indoor PE

Unfortunately, due to Storm Ali we were not able to spend the whole of our PE time outdoors.  On the upside, we were able to practise our yoga moves with the help of Cosmic Kids.
