Weight

We are already familiar with using terms such as “heavier” and “lighter” from Primary 1, so now we are extending our knowledge of weight using non-standard units.

Today we were measuring fruit and vegetables using cubes to compare and order by weight. We also used Google Classroom to access our worksheet and submit our answers.

Achievements

Just won a trophy for dance or gymnastics?

Or has your team won a tournament?

Have you been awarded a new badge at Beavers or Rainbows?

Did you sell out the house with your performance on stage?

Can you play that new piece of music?

We would love to hear about your child’s achievements outside of school so that we can celebrate their success on our P2a Achievements page.

Reading for enjoyment

Inspired by our visit to the library yesterday and our Read, Write, Count bags, we have decided to focus on reading for enjoyment in Primary 2.

The children are being encouraged to read something they really enjoy at home and share their experience with the rest of the class. This can be a picture book, comic or chapter book. Fiction or non-fiction, just as long as it sparks their interest and they enjoy reading it.

Once they’ve shared their book with the class we can add it to our bookshelf and hopefully soon our shelves will be groaning with lots of amazing books.

Read, Write, Count

Today our class visited Barrhead library at the Foundry.  We spoke to the librarian Mary who explained the difference between fiction and non-fiction books.

We also selected a book to borrow and take back to class with us for private reading.

Finally, we received our Read, Write, Count bags that we can take home with us and share with our families.
