Today during reading time the Purple Group were really good at finding ch sh and th words in our spelling story. We are all really proud of them.

Emilie marked a fantastic start to P5 by being our first recipient of the ‘Student of the Week’ Award. Emilie showed exemplary listening skills this week and followed instructions perfectly. She even used her initiative at many points too. Her classmates offered her some lovely shout-outs below too!

We have been working hard at the start of term to revise and showcase the ways we can uplevel  our writing.It’s so important to edit and improve as we write. This year we will always aim to be ambitious and set high standards for ourselves.

This month, our focus for Reciprocal Reading is ‘Clarifying’. We have been enjoying creating our own ‘Four Door Charts’ to help provide us with a range of strategies to work out the meanings of unknown words. We have been using these to clarify some Scots language in the Scots version of ‘The Gruffalo’.

This week, we have been working hard on honing our skills in characterisation in Literacy. We worked together to come up with some excellent adjectives to describe the personality and appearances of specific characters. We are looking forward to drafting our individually chosen character descriptions and sharing them with you soon.

We have been using oil pastels and focusing on warm colours to create our very own Egyptian landscapes.

In keeping with the spirit of Maths Week, P4A have been setting challenges for one another and demonstrating their place value knowledge with these cheerio spaghetti towers.

Our topic this term is Ancient Egypt. We have been carrying out a science experiment and learning the process of mummifying an apple!

We have been working hard on some outdoor calculations.

P4A have been working on their design and engineering skills in building a marshmallow structure!
