Novel Study – Diversity!

We loved finishing our recent novel study ‘Corey’s Rock’ and then discussing the theme of identity and the diverse people that make up Scotland. We decided we wanted to delve even further into the theme by creating stop motion videos  that depicted the main character’s identity.

Outdoor learning

Today  during outdoor learning we had two design challenges. The first one was to see who could build the highest structure. The second one was to try and build a structure that could move a tennis ball from one place to the other in the playground. We learned that the higher the ball starts and the more momentum it has means the ball goes faster and further.

Spring Poetry!

Our focus in poetry this week was creating rhyming couplets. We first looked at examples of different poems to develop our understanding of rhyme and of the different tones that can be set. We then went on to write about what Spring means to us.

Student of the Week – Keira

Well done to our fabulous Student of the Week! From now until the end of the year we are looking at homework when choosing our winners. Keira works on her homework independently and is working hard to be more creative and detailed within her tasks. She always does her best to check over her numeracy questions too and to learn from her mistakes. A brilliant attitude all round!

! Keep it up Keira!

British Science Week – Measuring!

We loved our British Science Week Live lesson! We were learning about measuring how big our hands are and how fast they are too. It was very fun. Some people’s dominant hands are actually faster at reacting than their non-dominant hand. SHOCK! And most people’s dominant hands are bigger!!! Measuring accurately is something we must always be careful with in science and maths if results are to be reliable.

“Making Our Mark” in Literacy!

It’s been so inspiring to witness the way that increased ‘book talk’ in our class has got the children excited and energised, not only reading, but WRITING too. Some of our children are now creating texts of their own in their spare time. They are adding to them bit by bit which is fantastic since we know that writing is most certainly a process! Keep it up guys!
