Today Jessica started National Poetry day beautifully by sharing her favourite poem! She then also shared facts about The Girl Guides that she had researched to gain a badge.

Today in digital technology we were using Scratch to create a Rwanda fact file to teach other facts about Rwanda. We put in facts about the money, culture, languages and flag etc.

In honour of National Poetry Day today, here is a link to our Personal Identity Poetry video from P5. Really powerful words and deliveries from you guys. Poetry can find a way to put across feelings and ideas that are otherwise difficult to explain.

The theme of this year’s Maths Week Scotland is ‘Maths in motion.’ We created small paper jets and tried to make the as aerodynamic as possible! We then used measuring tapes carefully to record each distance travelled. The winners are pictured below!

In P7 we have been learning about some new examples of grammar rules and punctuation. We’re working hard to recognise them in a variety of contexts. We’re looking forward to using them in our writing too.

We have three amazing Maths Coaches in P7 whose job it is to chat about strategies and approaches to tasks with their peers. Sometimes chatting to a peer informally can really help an idea to take hold and can help confidence grow. Throughout the year the Maths Coaches will change and lots of children will have the chance to share their learning and knowledge in a variety of ways.

A massive shout out to the magnificent Malik who is our latest Student of the Week in P7a! He is one of the most considerate and calm children in P7 and he is someone who the other children adore collaborating with. He’s always there with advice or a helping hand when it’s needed. He is a true role model.

Today in writing we were trying a new approach to our structure. We were focusing on adding all the description categories that we could add to our writing. We’ll keep collaborating each week until we are super confident in the structure of our work.

Today we were issued our first books of P7 from the school library! Happy reading, boys and girls!

We played tennis and we were trying to get better control of the ball and also to try to build a rally. Today we played a few games like last one standing and a tennis circle!
