Flower dissection!

P7b have been learning about different parts of a flower and the function of each part.
In order to develop their learning P7b dissected flowers and used magnifying glasses to investigate each part of the flower.

Cottoning On!

Yesterday P7 were learning all about Barrhead in the past. We learned about the cotton mills, bleach fields and the print works that were in Barrhead. We got to look at old maps of Barrhead and identify how many of these factories were there.

We also got to see an old quilt cover that was made in one of the print factories from almost 200 years ago.

Languages Week Scotland

This week P7b did a school survey to find out which languages are spoken in our school. We then took the information that we collected and transferred it into a Bar Graph to display. There are many languages spoken by the pupils in our school and from our results we found that other than English, Polish is the most widely used language.

As part of Languages Week Scotland, pupils selected a target language and then did research about a country where their target language is spoken. We had a wide range of interests and learned lots of interesting facts about the countries. Some of our pupils who speak another language decided to teach us some common phrases such as ‘Hello’ and ‘My name is’.
