This morning primary two gathered together for a prayer service to celebrate the beginning of Advent. We discussed that Advent is a time of preparation and that Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas. As a year group, we are taking part in The Travelling Crib project, where children will get to take the nativity scene home to share with their families and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas together. Today the reading committee, invited us up to our new soon to be school library for a hot chocolate read along! We really enjoyed hearing the story of ‘The wee lassie who swallowed a midgie’. We identified some rhyming words and discussed scots slang such as ‘lassie’ meaning girl.
Last week we did some teamwork games in P.E as a whole year group. We enjoyed working with our friends in the other classes.
This week we have been learning about sound and vibration and taking part in practical activities. Here we are guessing sounds and seeing sound waves in water.
This week we have been practising for our learning assembly. We are so excited to share this with the rest of the school and to perform in front of our families!
We finished our angles and directions topic in Numeracy. We loved using the Bee-Bots to consolidate our knowledge on our lefts and rights, using right angle turns and following instructions! We set up a race track and programmed the Bee-Bots with the correct directions to follow.
We enjoyed being creative outdoors using the loose parts play. We teamed up with P2a to work on team building skills and using our friendship qualities which we have been discussing in our topic.
