This morning primary two gathered together for a prayer service to celebrate the beginning of Advent. We discussed that Advent is a time of preparation and that Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas. As a year group, we are taking part in The Travelling Crib project, where children will get to take the nativity scene home to share with their families and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas together. Please tweet and share any pictures when it is your turn!

Book week with the reading committee!
Today the reading committee, invited us up to our new soon to be school library for a hot chocolate read along! We really enjoyed hearing the story of ‘The wee lassie who swallowed a midgie’. We identified some rhyming words and discussed scots slang such as ‘lassie’ meaning girl.
P.E with primary 2
Last week we did some teamwork games in P.E as a whole year group. We enjoyed working with our friends in the other classes.
STEM – sound waves
This week we have been learning about sound and vibration and taking part in practical activities. Here we are guessing sounds and seeing sound waves in water.
We can’t wait to show you what we have been learning!
This week we have been practising for our learning assembly. We are so excited to share this with the rest of the school and to perform in front of our families!
Angles and Directions
We finished our angles and directions topic in Numeracy. We loved using the Bee-Bots to consolidate our knowledge on our lefts and rights, using right angle turns and following instructions! We set up a race track and programmed the Bee-Bots with the correct directions to follow.
Loose parts play
We enjoyed being creative outdoors using the loose parts play. We teamed up with P2a to work on team building skills and using our friendship qualities which we have been discussing in our topic.
STEM – today we have been learning about the phases of the moon
Numeracy – Right Angles
Our numeracy topic is directions and yesterday we learned about right angles. We discovered that when we turn our bodies left or right, we move in the shape of a right angle.
We explored our classroom to discover where we can find right angles in our everyday environment, for example within the clock!
We then decided to go a walk throughout the school and into the playground to discover where else we could find right angles within the environment.
