Healthier Minds Self-Harm One Day Training

Information and resources to accompany the one-day training course

Coping Skills and Distractions

Self-harm is often used as a coping strategy. An important part of helping a young person change their behaviour is exploring alternative and more helpful ways of coping with strong feelings. Here you will find examples of coping strategies that can help.

Remember it may be unrealistic to expect the person to stop self-harming altogether.

The Charity Battle Scars has created a self-harm management workbook for young people age 10-17. You can download the workbook below or visit the website to request a free paper copy which will be delivered to you.
