School Newsletter 30.08.24

Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Water bottles
Please could we remind all parents and carers that children should bring a clear, named water bottle to school every day. We have noticed recently that many children are bringing juice into school in their water bottles. Please could we ask that water bottles are filled with water only and a reminder that these can be refilled at any of our water stations throughout the school day. Thank you.

Accessing Google Classroom
Your child/children should now have been added to a new Google Classroom for this session. This guide will help you through the process of assisting them to log on to GLOW and access Google Classroom.

Eco and Sustainability
Having a clear out after the Summer hols? We would really appreciate any donations of board games (chess, draughts etc). The children are also interested in playing traditional card games, dominoes, memory and matching games.

We are great at recycling uniforms here at Netherlee but would also like to build up a supply of puddle suits, waterproof trousers, leggings, joggers, pants and paired socks that would fit Ages 4-9. These are very much needed for our wet Scottish weather! Our Eco and Sustainability P7 Pupil Group will organise and redistribute any of your donated items.

Please send these in with your children on Monday 2nd and 9th September. Mrs Toman and the Eco and Sustainability P7 Pupil Group will collect these from classrooms on these days and will set up a recycling system.

Early Collection from School/ Change to Pick-up Arrangements
We understand that on rare occasion’s home arrangements for the end of the day, may need to change.  For example, a child may be walking home instead of being collected.  Whenever possible, we would appreciate it if these types of emails could be sent in by 12.30pm as teachers pick up any emails sent to them at the start of lunchtime- thanks so much for your help with this.  Of course we also understand that last minute changes also happen sometimes.  Please include your child’s name and class in these emails.  Many thanks.

P2b Parent Meetings – Rescheduled Date
Your child’s teacher, Mrs Anderson will be leaving us mid-October to begin her maternity leave. I am sure that you will join me in wishing Mrs Anderson all the best on the next step of her journey.  Due to this planned change, we feel it would be helpful to you to move the Parents’ Meeting evening to slightly earlier for the class. Mrs Anderson has really enjoyed working with Primary 2b and would like to invite you to attend parent consultations to discuss your child’s progress so far. The dates for Mrs Anderson’s appointments are Monday 23rd September and Thursday 3rd October from 4.00 until 7pm. We will be in touch on how to book an appointment.

Primary 6 School Lunch
As your child is now on P6, the Scottish Government no longer provides universal free school meals for children. If your child would like to purchase a school meal, you can top up funds in their Parentpay account for this.
