Thank you very much for your kindness and support.

Netherlee Library – parents, carers, grandparents and family members get involved!
We have had so much fun celebrating Book Week Scotland across our nursery, school and in our library. Our classes have been taking part in a range of activities including book scavenger hunts, sharing stories across classes and our P1 – P3 children receiving their Bookbug and Read, Write, Count bags.
We moved our Netherlee Library at the start of the school session into a cosier environment. Our library is home to a range of fiction books across all age ranges which our children can borrow on a weekly basis to support their love for learning and reading for pleasure. There are also a variety of nonfiction books and comics, an area with a selection of dyslexia friendly texts and a range of diversity themed stories. All of these ideas were suggested to us by our children so we have really try hard to action their feedback! We have a fantastic group of P7 Librarians who meet every Monday to help to run our library and lead reading activities.
We are really excited to welcome our families and wider school community in to enjoy our library. Before that, we would love to invite any ‘Library helpers’ from our school community to help throughout the year to organise and enhance our library. If you would like to volunteer to help in our library, please email our SchoolMail email address and we will be in touch with you. Many thanks for all your support.
Celebrating Children’s Achievements
We always enjoy celebrating our children’s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.
Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. Learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming. In order to submit the information about your child’s out of school achievements, please complete the Google Form using the link below. Please note the link will feature each week in our Friday newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.
Achievements Outside of School Google Form
No photographs are required. We will display your child’s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school. As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents/ carers in relation to this.
Scottish Artwork
Thank you to everyone who came along to the fayre and supported our school and nursery fundraising activity. The evening was such a great success and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces. If you weren’t able to make it along and would still like to collect your child’s piece of Scottish Artwork, and make a suggested donation of £2, they will be available at the main school entrance all next week- from Monday 24th November – Friday 28th November from 8.30am until 4.30pm – please just pop in anytime that week.
Community Information: Bereavement Support
As we approach the Christmas season, we know this time of year can be particularly difficult for children and families who are grieving. Child Bereavement UK has shared information about the free support they offer to children, young people and families who have experienced the death of someone important or who are facing bereavement.
We have attached their digital flyer, and we would be grateful if you could take a moment to look over the support available. If you feel it may benefit your family or someone you know, their Helpline number is 0800 028 8840.
Primary 2b Outdoor Learning
Primary 2b will be taking part in outdoor learning experiences in the school grounds on Monday 24th November, Monday 1st December and Monday 8th December. If possible, your child should please bring an additional pair of shoes, in a carrier bag, to wear outdoors. Many thanks for your support and any questions lease do not hesitate to get in touch with the school office.
Primary 4-7: Church Service
On the morning of Thursday 11th December, P4-7 will attend Netherlee Church for a Christmas Service. As space is limited within the church, unfortunately, we will only be able to accommodate two family members from the children who are reading, performing in the choir or playing their instrument. Separate information has been sent to these families already, please only attend the service if you have received confirmation that your child will be performing. If you would prefer your child not to attend for religious reasons, please email the school office by Friday 5th December.
As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery. We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.
Have a wonderful weekend.
