School Newsletter 09.10.2025

Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

School and Nursery Communication
As you may know, in line with East Renfrewshire Council’s Education Department’s advice, we no longer use X to share school and nursery events and photographs. However, we thought that this would be a good time to remind you of all of the platforms that we do use to keep you up to date with school and nursery news and your child’s learning.

Friday Bundle
Each week we send school and nursery Friday Bundles. These contain all non-urgent communication for families. If you miss any, we also upload and store them each week on our Netherlee website.

Social Media – Instagram
We are delighted to announce that, in line with East Renfrewshire Council and also many other schools, we are now using Instagram as our social media platform. We are very excited about this and hope it will offer an engaging and accessible way for parents, children and families to stay connected with life in Netherlee

Competition Time!

Pharmacy Poster Competition
Our Local Pharmacy “Scots Pharmacy” is hosting a competition to design a poster all about the importance of handwashing in helping to fight winter colds, coughs and flu and they have asked us to get involved!  Several winners will be selected, and their posters will be displayed in the pharmacy window to help remind our Netherlee Community about healthy habits. We would love to invite all children from P1 to Primary 7 to work on their posters at home before submitting their entry for consideration before Friday the 31st of October.  Children will be given more information at their next assembly. All entries, on roughly the size of A4 paper please, should be passed to the child’s teacher with their name and class on the back.  If any child requires a piece of paper from us, please remember that there is always a stock of paper and other stationery items in the little trays just at the front door of the school- they or you, can pop in at any time to help yourself.  We cannot wait to see what the children come up with!

Celebrating Children’s Achievements
We always enjoy celebrating our children’s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.

Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. Learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming. In order to submit the information about your child’s out of school achievements, please complete the Google Form using the link below.  Please note the link will feature each week in our Friday newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.

Achievements Outside of School Google Form

No photographs are required. We will display your child’s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school.  As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents/ carers in relation to this.

Primary 3- MP Card Competition
The MP for East Renfrewshire has written to the school to ask for some entries to his annual Winter Card competition. This year the theme is “Kindness” and designs can focus on Christmas, Hanukkah or Winter in general with this theme at the centre. Each year we choose a different stage eg P6, P2 to take part in this annual completion and this year we have chosen P3. The children will submit entries on our school’s behalf and will complete their designs in school before they are collected for consideration at the end of November. We wish all of the children the best of luck with their entries and can’t wait to see their creativity shine!

October Break
Just a quick reminder that school and nursery will be closed tomorrow for a staff in-service day, followed by the October holiday week.  We hope all of our Netherlee families enjoy a restful and enjoyable holiday, and we look forward to welcoming all of our children back to school on Monday 20th October.

As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery.  We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.

Have a wonderful weekend.
