Farewell from Mrs Kerr
As my post at Netherlee comes to an end, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words, support and kindness over the last 12 years.  We are so lucky in Netherlee to have such wonderful children, supportive staff and welcoming families, and it’s this that makes Netherlee truly special and leaving more difficult. I’m really excited about starting my new job on Monday and certainly won’t forget the Netherlee years.

We’re delighted to let you know that Miss Elliott has been successful in securing an Acting Principal Teacher post here at Netherlee. She will start her new role on Monday 11th November and we’re sure she will do a fantastic job!

Winter Fayre – Tombola Collection
Ahead of the Winter Fayre, the PTA will be taking collections for the Tombola on Friday 22nd November. There will be representatives from the PTA at each of the gates to receive any donations. To mark the occasion, children can come to school with Crazy Hair. Please note, they should wear their normal school uniform.

Pupil Parliament Day of Action Sway
Our Pupil Parliament Day of Climate Action last month was a great success. All classes in our school and nursery had the opportunity to learn about the importance of biodiversity and the impact humans can have on our environment. We also had a focus on adding plant life and flowers to our greenspaces and playgrounds to provide habitats for pollinators and insects. Our Communications Team worked together to take photos of the amazing learning experiences which took place and we have created a Sway to share highlights from this event with you: https://sway.cloud.microsoft/QlgN7e6lEk4wOgta?ref=Link. We hope you enjoy looking at this.

Jotters Home
We hope that you enjoy looking at your child’s literacy jotter. Please remember to pop it back in their schoolbag as they will need it on Monday in school.  Thank you.

We have had a slight change to the leadership stage heads. Currently the stage head for Primary 1 is Mrs Angela Kerr, from Monday 11th November this will be Mrs Jackie Toman. As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Primary 2 Food Hygiene

If your child has any allergies that you have not already made us aware of, please let us know.   The proposed ingredients are: vegetable stock (used in our school kitchen and allergen checked already), potatoes, carrots, leeks and turnip.

Primary 5b Class Teacher
We’re delighted to let you know that Miss Elliott has been successful in securing an Acting Principal Teacher post here at Netherlee. She will start her new role on Monday 11th November and we’re sure she will do a fantastic job! Your child’s class will be taken on by Miss Erin Stevens, who has previously been a P5 teacher in Netherlee.  Miss Elliott will continue to be in class for the full week next week with Miss Stevens to ensure a robust hand over for the children, and then she will continue to take the class 2 days a week (Thursday/Friday) moving forwards. This should help to ensure continuity within the class.  Miss Stevens is really looking forward to working with the children in P5b!

Primary 6 Movie
Primary 6 have been enjoying reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J Palacio in class and would like to watch the movie. The movie covers themes of anti-bullying and kindness and we feel that this experience would add value to the children’s learning, as we will be able to compare and contrast the two types of media (book and film). We would like to watch this, week beginning 25th November. As ‘Wonder’ has a PG rating, we need to let you know that we would like to watch the movie in class. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school before the 22nd November.

Have a wonderful weekend.
