Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Farewell Mrs Kerr
Many of our families know Mrs Angela Kerr very well as she would have worked with you if/ when your child started at our Netherlee Nursery.  I am truly delighted to share the wonderful news that Angela has recently secured a Head Teacher position at Cartmill Family Centre.  I am sure you will want to join me in wishing Angela much happiness and continued success throughout her future career.  Angela’s last day at Netherlee will be Friday 8th November.  We will miss you greatly Angela but I couldn’t be happier for you and know that you will do a fantastic job in your new nursery.
Menu Change and Theme Day
Please see the new menu for this session.

Please also find attached our planned menu change for next Thursday 31st October. The allergy information is included to enable your child to select a suitable option. However, if you require further allergy or dietary information, please contact your catering team via the school office. If you have completed a lifestyle meal request form a suitable alternative will be provided.

An important message from ERC’s Catering Department – Changes to Allergy Procedures
Due to an increase in the complexity of special dietary requirements and to ensure the safety of all ERC children with allergies, regrettably, the catering department are currently unable to provide a flexible approach to some of our young people’s diets therefore allergies will be dealt with on an all or nothing basis e.g. if you’re child has an egg allergy they will not be provided with any item on the menu which contains egg including egg baked/cooked through items. If you require further allergy or dietary information, please email ERC at facilitiesmanagement@eastrenfreshire.gov.uk.

School Children Flu Immunisation- Friday 1st November
A reminder that this will take place on Friday in school.

Community Events: SPACE (Supporting Parents and Children in East Renfrewshire)

This project is dedicated to helping families who have children or young adults with additional support needs to access the benefits and support they are entitled to. Through SPACE, we provide guidance on claiming disability benefits, as well as helping families discover other forms of assistance they may be eligible for. We also have access to fuel vouchers, school clothing grants and other charitable support. Our goal is to ensure that families are aware of and can access the financial support they deserve. Please find a flyer with more details.

Community Events: ERC Sports and Arts Taster Classes Available
Our Sports & Arts Classes are back following the October break! We run over 120 classes for kids each week, with lots of options across East Renfrewshire. Primary 1b: Smoothies with Primary 7s
As part of the work the P7 Leadership Health Committee, they would like to invite the children in P1b to come and taste healthy smoothies with them. They P7 pupils will show the P1s what ingredients they will be using and will talk to them about how this helps with everyone’s overall health. This will be on Monday 4th November in the afternoon.

The ingredients we will be using are: Ice, semi skimmed cow’s milk, apple fruit juice, bananas and mangos – all of the smoothies will be in individual disposable cups for the children to try.

We have checked all dietary and allergy information we have for the children however, if this information requires updating or you have any questions, please contact the school office at SchoolMail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk at your earliest convenience. Primary 5: Titanic Cabins
As we are coming to the end of our Titanic Big Question, we are going to have the opportunity to create a cabin in a shoe box. This task will be completed in school. It would be really helpful if at all possible, that children bring into class a box, roughly the size of a shoebox.

If you also have any “bits n bobs” at home that the children can use to decorate the interior of their cabin, such as scraps of materials/fabrics, bits of wallpaper, dolls house furniture, pictures, wee bits of carpet – anything at all really.

Can children please bring in their shoebox,(or similar) by Monday 4th November.  If anyone wants to bring it in earlier, we can store them in the classroom. Thank you so much for your help.  P5 teachers
