Hello everyone,
We have had a fantastic first week back as staff and children reconnect with each other and re-establish trusting, warm relationships together. It has been wonderful to see all the smiling, happy faces coming into school and nursery each morning. The staff team are taking the time to get to know your child, learn about their likes and dislikes and help settle them into life at Netherlee.
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new children and families who have recently joined Netherlee. I know that our existing parents will also look out for new faces at drop off and pick up times and will help where they can too to make sure everyone feels welcome and included. Thank you for helping us to make Netherlee School & Nursery such a lovely, warm and welcoming community.
The roads and car parks are very busy at the start and end of each day, please remember when dropping off or collecting children, to be mindful of other adults and children, to only use official parking spaces and be respectful of local residents who require access to their home and street.

Emails to School
Thank you for using our efficient email system to communicate with us. For reasons of confidentiality, please note that myself and Alyson (Office Manager) are the only people who have access to this email. Please ensure you include your child’s name and class in the subject bar so that your email can be passed on to the appropriate person very quickly- thank you.
Social Media
In line with East Renfrewshire Council’s decision to no longer use X, our X account is no longer monitored. You can access our online content on our website. We will be back in touch soon with our new arrangements for sharing the work of the nursery and school.
PE Timetable
Please see the PE/ Gym Day Timetable. On these days children should come to school in their full PE uniform please. Our uniform policy can be found here which details, as a reminder, the Netherlee’s School Uniform List. Please note that non-Netherlee badged PE uniform items eg joggers, shorts must not have any visible sports logos on them and should be plain navy only. Our children have returned to school looking extremely smart in their school uniform and I would like to thank you for the commitment and support with this.
Free School Meals Application
The application for free school meals for the 2025/26 session is now open. Although all Primary 1-5 children in Scotland automatically receive free school meals, we would like to encourage all our families to apply for this if you have additional circumstance that make you eligible. If you are eligible, (please see below), not only does your application ensure your child receives their school meals during term time, like all P1-5 children, but you will also receive a holiday meal payment over holiday periods and also clothing grant support.
You can apply online at www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/free-school-meals. There is guidance and a video guide to help you to complete the process. If you are having any difficulties, please feel free to contact the team directly at cgfsmapply@eastrenfrewshire.go.uk.
Celebrating Diversity in Netherlee
We are very lucky that we have a wealth of diversity in our school community and we are committed to celebrating diversity and promoting equality across our curriculum and special events such as assemblies and Diversity Evening. In order to help us with this, if you have not already done so, we would like to invite you to share information about your child’s religion, ethnicity and additional spoken languages. This can be completed through ParentsPortal, if you wish to do so. Many thanks for your continued support.
Primary 1: Information and Meet the Teacher Evening
A very successful first week in Primary One! We are sure that the children have been telling you all about their new friends, classroom, learning and having fun. Thank you for all your help in the first few days to ensure smooth transitions in the morning and at collection time.
We look forward to welcoming our Primary One parents and carers to our Primary 1 Information and Meet the Teacher Evening on Thursday 28th August from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Please read the letter for further information.
Primary 1 and 2: Child smile Tooth Brushing
Please find the Childsmile toothbrushing consent letter for the upcoming academic year. Your child will be enrolled in the tooth brushing programme automatically. You do not need to do anything. However, if you do not want your child to take part in the Childsmile tooth brushing programme please contact us via email (schoolmail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk) within two weeks of receiving this letter (by Friday 29th August 2025).
Primary 1 and 2: Parental Involvement
We would be very happy to hear any suggestions of how parents and families could offer their time or skills in any area e.g. to support play, gardening, storytelling, reading. We would appreciate any time you could offer. Please just email school mail and Mrs Toman will happy to chat to you about possible days and times.
Primary 2-7: Meet the Teacher
We are very much looking forward to welcoming our families to our P2-P7 ‘Meet the Teacher Evening’ on Monday 25th August from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. This is a very informal opportunity for you to drop in, say hello to your child’s teacher and ’put a face to a name!’
Our teachers are looking forward to introducing themselves to you and will be available from 6.30-7.30pm so please feel free to drop in for two minutes or to stay longer. Please note that due to the informal nature of the evening, teachers will not be able to discuss your individual child in any detail, however you will of course be able to do this at our one to one parent/ teacher meetings in November.
The Leadership Team will also be available in the Open Area and/ or Atrium so please come along if you have anything that you would like to talk about. We look forward to seeing you all then.
Primary 3-7 Healthy Tuck Shop
We are once again able to provide our Primary 3-7 pupils the opportunity to purchase from the Catering Team’s Tuck Shop at morning interval. For more information please read here. If you would rather your child does not have access to the tuck shop please do not hesitate to get in touch and the kitchen will update their system.
