Nursery Newsletter 22.11.24

Hello everyone,

It has been a chilly week with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning about changing weather conditions and the wonder of mark making on frosty surfaces!  Many stories have been told, read and written this week. Bookbug sessions were fantastic as always. This week the Bookbug session was in Gaelic. Our visitor, Ishbel Campbell, introduced vocabulary for colours and numbers to 5. Ask the children to share their learning with the family. I have chatted to quite a few of you at the gate and door and am practising all the new names. Thank you for your warm welcome!

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Collection
We appreciate that you ‘park’ any buggies/strollers just inside the main entrance when dropping off and collecting children. We would politely ask that older siblings who may be with you at collection time to stay just inside the main entrance too. This helps us to safely sustain play spaces throughout these transition times. Thanks for your help with this.

Health Visitor App
We’ve been asked to share information about a new Health Visiting app released for all parents of children aged 0-5.  The attached information has QR codes to download the app Right Decisions.  From there you can download Happy Healthy Tots. It gives a range of information from a guide to Health Visitor visits, health and wellbeing and local information.

Psychology of Parenting Project (PoPP)
The following PoPP Sway shares information on the availability of PoPP groups within East Renfrewshire during 2024. These groups are for any parents/carers who have children 2-12 years and are interesting in extending their knowledge of how to manage behaviour. https://sway.cloud.microsoft/gWOLYNyk1D3CLLGg

St. Andrews Day
If you have a wee tartan something to add to your child’s outfit on Friday 29th November, please do so. There will be learning opportunities throughout the day to find out about traditions and celebrations linked to St Andrew.

St Andrew’s Day Art
To mark St Andrew’s Day every child has created a piece of Scottish themed artwork. This will be available for you to take home from the Winter Fayre on Thursday 6.30-8pm. In return, to raise money for the nursery fund we will be having a suggested donation of £2. The nursery fund is used to pay for resources in nursery and much more.

Christmas Lunch
Christmas lunch this year will be on Tuesday 10th December.  The menu is attached.

Have a wonderful weekend.
