Early Finish – Friday 20^th December
School will close slightly earlier than usual on this day. P1 and P2 will finish at 2.25pm and P3-7 will finish at 2.30pm.

Winning House – Term 2 – Blue House!
We are delighted to announce that the children in the Blue House are the overall house winners for Term 2! To celebrate, we have arranged a Dance Party on Monday 16^th December in the afternoon. Please could the children in the Blue House come to school on the 16^th wearing their uniform, as usual, but they can also wear blue accessories eg socks, scarf, t-shirt. The children will join the rest of their house, from each stage, to party! We look forward to seeing everyone then.  Thank you- The P7 Blue House NPs

Parent Council Meeting Update
Please note that the date of the next Parent Council meeting has been changed from what was originally in the calendar at the start of the school year and this will now take place on Wednesday, 22 January 2025. It would be lovely to see some new parents/carers join us for school and nursery updates and improvement priorities.

Primary 2c Class Update
We are delighted that Mrs Mairi Dempster will be returning from her maternity leave on Monday 16^th December to teach in P2c along with Mrs Ewelina Short, their current teacher.

Mrs Dempster will teach the class alternate Mondays and every Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Short will teach the class alternate Mondays and every Thursday and Friday. On Monday 16^th, Mrs Dempster and Mrs Short will both teach in class to ensure a smooth transition. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Mrs Dempster back into school and know she is excited about her return and working with the children in P2c.

P5 Festive Treat
On Thursday 19^th December, P5 teachers will be providing a low sugar Hot Chocolate as a Festive Treat. Please advise us if there are any changes to the allergy information we hold for your child.

Festive Wishes
As we approach the end of term, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your family.  At Netherlee we learn about many religions and traditions and know that some of our families will be celebrating Hanukkah soon too. So Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to all who celebrate these joyous festivals!

Our nursery and school will open the doors again on Monday 6^th January, ready to welcome our wonderful children back. Until then, we hope you have a peaceful holiday surrounded by family and friends.

Winter Fayre – Thank You
A huge thank you to everyone that came along to our Winter Fayre last week. It was a wonderful evening and as well as being a lot of fun, helped us to raise an amazing £3549.76. This money will go to our school and nursery funds and will be used, amongst other things, to help us to improve the playground equipment children can use outdoors. Thank you again for supporting our community fayre and fundraising efforts.

Uploading / Sharing Homework
If you are still experiencing issues uploading / sharing your child’s homework via Google Classroom please do not email this in to schoolmail as they are causing problems to our email system and creating issues for our communications. If you have not managed to upload the homework please either call or email us to let us know, someone will then contact you to help you get the homework uploaded.

Primary 2b and 2c: Class Treat
On Friday 13^th December, the P2 teachers would like to treat the children to some hot chocolate (sugar free) and a movie (U rating). If you do not wish your child to have the hot chocolate, please email the school office on schoolmail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk by Thursday 12^th December. Primary 2a: Class Update
It is with mixed emotions that we share with you that Miss McLean will be leaving Netherlee on Friday 13^th December. We’re sure you’ll agree that she done a wonderful job teaching your children. On her last day, Miss McLean would like to treat the children to some hot chocolate (sugar free) and a movie (U rating). If you do not wish your child to have the hot chocolate, please email the school office on schoolmail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk by Thursday 12^th December. We are delighted to share with you that Miss Weldon, who has been on maternity leave, will return to Netherlee as P2a’s class teacher from Monday 16^th December, on a full time basis.

To ensure a smooth transition, Miss Weldon will visit the class on Friday 13^th December, in the afternoon, and meet with Miss McLean, to ensure all relevant information is passed on.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Miss Weldon back into school and know she is excited about her return and working with your children.

Primary 6b Baking
The children in Primary 6b would like to make some vegan festive biscuits on Wednesday 11^th December 2024. We will be using a few simple ingredients;
Plain flour
Caster sugar (as little as possible)
Brown sugar (as little as possible)
Dairy-free spread
Oat milk
Cinnamon
Vanilla extract
Baking powder
Bicarbonate of soda

Please advise us if there are any changes to the allergy information we hold for your child.

Primary 7: Movie
Primary 7 have been reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas in class and would like to watch the film. We feel that this experience would add value to the children’s learning, as we will be able to compare and contrast the two types of media. As The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a 12 rating and covers themes related to our World War Two topic, we need to let you know that we would like to watch the movie in class. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office before the 10^th December.

Primary 7: Visit to Williamwood 17^th December
The Modern Languages Department plan to have a ‘French Café’ for pupils while they are visiting Williamwood on the 17^th December. Ahead of the visit we will share with Williamwood staff, the allergy information that we hold for our children.  If you do not wish us to do so, please contact our school office by Monday 16^th December.

Menu Change: Scotland Day – Thursday 28^th November
Please find attached our planned menu change for next Thursday 28th November. The allergy information is included to enable your child to select a suitable option.  However, if you require further allergy or dietary information, please contact your catering team via the school office. St Andrew’s Day – Friday 29^th November
To mark St Andrew’s Day the children will be participating in a variety of activities. There will be learning opportunities throughout the day to find out about traditions and celebrations linked to St Andrew.  On Friday 29^th November children should come to school in their uniform as normal, if they would like to, they can add something tartan to it – scarf, tie, skirt, kilt etc. Continue reading →
