Hello everyone
We hope you all enjoyed Bonfire Night last week. Lots of children were discussing the noises and colours of the fireworks and how “sparkly” they looked in the sky. As you can see below, we have a very busy but exciting time ahead in Netherlee.
Bhangra Dancing
Here at Netherlee, we strive to celebrate the diversity of cultures and religions of our families. On Thursday November 17th, a parent from our school community is visiting the nursery to teach the children Bhangra dancing, a style of music and dance which originated from India. Keep an eye out on our school and nursery twitter @sand_c to see how the children get on! We can’t wait.
Book Week Scotland – Book Sale – 14th to 18th November
Arrangements for our Book Week Book Sale will be a little different this time, than in previous sessions. To enable parents to have the opportunity to view the books on sale themselves, the Book Sale will be open for parents and families to visit, with their children. More information can be found in this letter.
Book Bug
Bookbug encourages parents and carers to share books with their children from as early an age as possible to inspire a love of reading in us all. We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting termly Bookbug sessions at Netherlee Nursery. Each session will take place over two dates, with one morning and one afternoon session. For this term, please see dates and times for each colour group below:
Tuesday 29th November in the Saplings:
9:15am – Pink and Green Group
2:15pm – Blue and Purple Group
Thursday 1st December in the Acorns:
9:15am – White and Yellow Group (Staff will take Yellow Group children to and from Acorns back to Saplings)
2:15pm – Red and Orange Group
We politely ask that a maximum of two adults attend the sessions. Younger siblings are also more than welcome to attend. Should the above days/times be unsuitable for this term, please be assured that alternative days and times will be provided for the sessions to follow.
Nursery Christmas Celebrations
We are very excited to invite you to our Nursery Christmas Celebration. The children will be performing some festive songs to get us in the Christmas spirit. All celebrations will take place in the Saplings building. Again, we kindly ask that a maximum of two guests per child attend the celebrations. Please see dates and times below:

Message from the PTA: PTA Living Advent and Donations for Winter Fair
We look forward to welcoming you to the school for the first day of the Netherlee Living Advent with a winter fair in the school on the 1st Dec from 6-8pm. We will need lots of helping hands so if you can volunteer please follow this link Netherlee PTA (pta-events.co.uk). Please see the poster for this exciting festive event.
Message from the PTA: PTA Wear What you Want Day: 25th November
On the 25th November we will be having a ‘Wear what you Want’ day in school and nursery, and if you are able to please bring along a chocolate or bottle donation which will be collected at the door/gates as your child goes into nursery. These will become probably the biggest tombola you have ever seen at the winter fair event! Please see the poster for more information.
Learning Links
As stated in last week’s Friday Bundle, the learning links will now feature in the Friday bundle each week. Please click to view this week’s Acorns and Saplings Learning Links. This week’s song of the week is Road Safety Week (To the tune of, ‘When the Saints Come Marching In’). The link to the song of the week can be listened to and enjoyed by logging in to your child’s Google Classroom via this link- enjoy. https://sts.platform.rmunify.com/Account/SignIn/glow
