Hello everyone,
We’ve had a brilliant first week back as staff and children reconnect and also build relationships with our new families. We are taking time to get to know our new children and learn about their interests and unique personalities.
If you have not already done so, please click on the link for more information about our Nursery Class at Netherlee https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/nursery/
Please be reminded that all clothing, particularly anything that can be taken off, has your child’s name on it. Children should bring soft indoor shoes to wear inside the nursery and outdoor shoes to wear whilst playing outside. It is also helpful that children have wellies with them every day and a suitable outdoor jacket as we go out to play in all weathers.
Community Council Litterpick at Netherlee Pavilion this Saturday
Volunteers from Netherlee and Stamperland Community Council are meeting at Netherlee Pavilion at 11am this Saturday 20th August to pick up litter around the Netherlee Pavilion area (assisted by equipment from ERC). They would be delighted to welcome any extra volunteers from the school or nursery community. I hope the weather stays dry for everyone involved and thank you for giving your time.
Industrial Action in Schools
I have been asked to inform you that a number of trade unions of local government employees have indicated that, following a ballot, industrial action will/ may take place with a series of targeted withdrawals of labour for some designated categories of staff. Please see the letter included in your email for further information.
Parental Employability Support
Please find some information on a Work East Ren programme. The programme focuses on parents who are employed and unemployed are looking for support with career opportunities, funding for industry specific training or want help to improve your confidence. The programme has support from East Renfrewshire Councils Money, Advice and Rights Team and they can ensure that parents are financially secure and will be aware of their financial situation before undertaking any new roles.
ERC Culture and Leisure Sports Classes
Culture and Leisure are delighted to announce that sports classes are due to restart on Monday 22nd August until Sunday 20th November and there is still plenty of time to join in. They have a range of sports classes available in athletics, badminton, basketball, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball and tennis. Use the following link to see the range of classes, register to book on-line or book if you have attended a class before https://www.ercultureandleisure.org/sports-arts/sports/kids-sport-classes. If the class you would like to join is fully booked, please add your name to the waiting list so that they know you would like to join. They are monitoring waiting lists daily and will add more classes to the programme where they can. All sports classes run in blocks which must be booked and paid for in advance.
National Autistic Society East Renfrewshire
The National Autistic Society East Renfrewshire branch was launched in March 2020, and is the first autism specific group in East Renfrewshire. The branch is volunteer led by local autistic individuals and carers to support autistic individuals and their families within the East Renfrewshire community. Meet the author’s session with Jodie Issit – Wednesday 31st August 2022 at 7pm. Register here – and please be aware that invites to the online session will be emailed out a few days before the event. Please check junk folders.
Outdoor coats and shoes should also be marked with your child’s name. Children should change into soft shoes while in nursery (not Crocs or slippers. We have lots of ‘lightly used’ age 3-4 uniform available to take from the table outside the Sapling Building – please help yourself!
We are always happy to chat, answer any questions and support your child and our families. Please feel free to contact us by phone, email or simply catch us when dropping off or picking up your child.
Have a lovely weekend.
