Winter Fayre – Thursday 20th November 6.30pm-8pm
The nights are drawing in and we are all busy getting ready for this year’s Winter Fayre. Make sure you save the date, it’s sure to be a wonderful night. More information can be found in the attached flyer.

Head Lice
It is always a good idea to periodically check your child’s head for any little creepy crawlies. We have lots of useful information on this in our website so please click this link if it would be of help to you. Please be advised that a child can attend school as soon as treatment has commenced and does not require to remain off school.

Celebrating Children’s Achievements
We always enjoy celebrating our children’s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.

Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming. In order to submit the information about your child’s out of school achievements, please complete the Google Form using the link below.  Please note the link will feature each week in our Friday newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.

Achievements Outside of School Google Form

No photographs are required. We will display your child’s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school.  As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents/ carers in relation to this.

Coming Together for Our School – PTA Update
Tombola Collection & Cosy Sweater Day: This is a date for your diary! The Tombola Collection for this year’s Winter Fayre will take place on Monday, 17 November. In the morning, volunteers from the PTA will be at each of the gates to receive your donations. To mark the occasion, children can come to school wearing a cosy jumper. Please note, they should wear their normal school uniform. On Monday, 17 November, if you want to help with the collections and / or sorting, then please send us an email at netherleepta@gmail.com or via our social media pages.

Thank You – Disco 2025: We are incredibly grateful for the generous support and enthusiasm that made our recent disco events such a wonderful success! Thanks to your contributions, just over £2k were raised for the school. Thank you to our parents and carers for your time, donations, and unwavering support. And, to all the children – your energy and joy lit up the room! You made the event truly unforgettable and worthwhile.

To our volunteers, thank you for helping in every way possible. We would like to make a special mention of Fiona Dunlop for making herself available to lead on this event. All the hard work and time the organisers dedicated into bringing this event together is much appreciated. Also, a special thank you to the team in the office and the team of janitors for your time and support in helping us with getting things done. To everyone involved, the enthusiasm is infectious, and your support is fantastic. Together, we’re making a real difference for our school – thank you.

Thank you – P1 and New Children and Parent Mixer (Sponsored by the Class of 2025): We were delighted to see and meet so many of our new parents and children at our mixer event that took place on Thursday, 2 October. What a fabulous time we had. We did scavenger hunts, made autumn wreaths, friendship bracelets and many more crafts whilst enjoying some delicious pakoras and sweet treats.

These events are not possible without people willing their time and skills to help. A special thank you to every volunteer who were there, and especially our working group under the lead of Jennifer McGraw.  We would also like to thank everyone who prepared and donated baked goods and savoury snacks.

Then, we would like to thank our P7 Class of 2025. The money raised at one of their end of year events was donated to the school. Sponsoring an event to welcome new children to our school is a fitting gesture.

Community Event: Parental Hub
Work East Ren will be at Cartmill Family Centre on 5th Nov from 9am-1pm. The team offer support to parents that are looking for jobs, training, volunteering etc. We support them from beginning right through to 52 weeks after they are in a role.

We offer training in various aspects, most recently this has been in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Customer Service- these courses are only available to parents in East Renfrewshire that are registered with WER. Previously we have also had paid traineeships- this has been in Pupil Support Assistant, Early Years Worker, and Business Support Assistant roles. These were for 6 months and were open to parents who were able to be employed by ERC, paid Real Living Wage and can gain a qualification (depending on what role). Work East Ren support with roles that parents are keen to undertake such as the Catering Assistant, Pupil Support Assistant and Early Years Workers- which predominantly offer the school hour/term time hours.

There is also support for parents that are in work- there is a training grant available for those that are looking to upskill/retrain.

Along with Parental Employment Support- Work East Ren have a Financial Inclusion Officer. Tracey from the Money Advice and Rights Team will be at Cartmill FC on 5th Nov and can support parents with advice on returning or increasing their hours. A benefit check can be completed to ensure the parent/carer is receiving all they should be, and they can also receive a better off calculation to enable them to see if they did undertake a role, how would this change their situation- financially. Tracey can also support parents with Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment forms and answer any queries around these and many other benefits and supports. Tracey is delivering a workshop on Budgeting for Christmas- to attend this, you need to be registered with Work East Ren.

Work East Ren work closely with the Family First team and directly refer to the team who offer support to parents with a child that is 11 and under. The Family First team can offer a range of supports for parents and children such as:

  • A child’s emotional wellbeing
  • Support parents with their child/children’s behaviour
  • Building confidence
  • And sign posting to relevant agencies that can offer additional support for their child’s emotional and behavioural well-being.

If any of the above are of interest, or you just would like to have a chat Naomi, Lucy and Tracey will be at Cartmill on 5th Nov from 9am-1pm. Please drop in.

At the time of enrolment and completing consent forms, the social media consent question was not included. We now ask that you please complete the Social Media Consent Form via ParentsPortal by Friday 7th November.

This ensures we have your most up-to-date permissions for sharing images and updates about school life.

A placing request for August 2026 should be submitted between 1 December 2025 and 31 January 2026. Applications received after 31 January 2026 will be treated as late applications. East Renfrewshire Admissions Team aim to have advised parents of High School allocation, late March/early April.

It is important that you make contact with your Local Authority if you are out with East Renfrewshire Council to register your child for their High School.

As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery.  We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.

Have a wonderful weekend.
