Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Children in Need
We all had a fantastic time last Friday taking part in fitness, dance, photo and art workshops for Children in Need. Thanks to your amazing generosity we raised an amazing £1,016.60 for Children in Need. We hope your child enjoyed their day knowing they have done a great deed for charity.  Thank you very much for your kindness and support.

St Andrew’s Day Reminder
On Friday 28th November children can come to nursery wearing something tartan eg scarf, hairband, tie, sash, kilt etc.

Family Learning Drop In Sessions
This week we had drop in sessions to offer suggestions and strategies for supporting health and well being. We have also attached some further resources from Solihull Approach that parents may find useful. If you want to have a chat about any aspects of behaviour or the information in the leaflets shared last week and this week, please ask Mrs Toman or Mr Strang – Roy at drop off or collection. If you would like us to offer drop in sessions for different areas of the curriculum or aspects of child development, please let us know.

Christmas Lunch
We will be having our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 10th December. The nursery option will be turkey and trimmings, and ice cream.

Nursery Festive Party
The nursery will be having a Christmas party on Tuesday 16th December between 9.30am and 11.30am. If your child does not usually attend on a Tuesday as part of their agreed pattern of days, they are very welcome to come along at 9.30am and be collected by 11.30am on that day. We have heard that there may be a ‘special visitor’ on that day too- Ho Ho Ho!!

Fire Service Visit
We were very excited to welcome the Clarkston Fire Fighters to nursery this week! The children had a fantastic time exploring the fire truck up close, looking at the equipment, learning about the tall ladders, and finding out where the water comes from. Everyone was thrilled to climb inside the fire engine, and the highlight of the visit was hearing the loud sirens! It was a memorable experience that sparked lots of curiosity and imaginative play.

Book Week Scotland
The children had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week Scotland at Netherlee. Throughout the week, they enjoyed sharing traditional nursery rhymes and listening to stories all about friendship, one of our core values. The children loved joining in with familiar songs, exploring picture books together, and talking about what it means to be a kind and caring friend. It was a joyful week filled with imagination, learning, and lots of smiles!

Wonderful Winter Walk
A group of children and staff enjoyed exploring the local green spaces in Linn Park this week with the added bonus of examining the different states of water with ice, frost and a flowing stream. We will send you an email beforehand if your child is going on any local area trips/walks so that you can be prepared in advance and also to share their learning with you.

Winter Fayre
A huge thank you to all the staff, parents and children who made decorations and home baking for selling at the Winter Fayre! If you didn’t manage along to the Winter Fayre, we will still have items for sale in the foyer of the nursery over the next week if you wish to purchase those decorations specially made with love by the children. We will only be able to accept cash for these in nursery. Thank you so much for helping us to raise funds for our nursery!

Voluntary Contributions to Nursery Fund
Voluntary contributions to our nursery fund play a valuable role in enriching the experiences we can offer the children. While core activities are always provided, these contributions help us go further—supporting special resources, workshops, outings, and creative projects that spark curiosity and make learning even more exciting. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly benefits the children by providing opportunities that enhance their development and enjoyment at nursery. We appreciate your involvement and engagement with all aspects of nursery life and look forward to working with you again this year. Contributions can be made via ParentPay.  Thank you so much to those families who have already donated.

Achievements
We love celebrating the children’s achievements both in nursery and at home, and we’d be delighted if you could share special moments from outside of nursery too. Whether it’s learning a new skill, showing kindness, or simply making you proud, these experiences help us to build a fuller picture of your child’s development. Please feel free to send in photos, notes, or stories so we can share their successes with the nursery community and celebrate them together. Click on the Achievements link below to share achievements with us.

As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery.  We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.

Have a wonderful weekend.
