Hello everyone,
Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up. This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.
Restart a Heart
You may have heard that ‘Restart a Heart’ and the ‘Scottish Government’ are having a livestream cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training event soon. This will be held online on Oct 1st 2025 and is led by Scottish Ambulance service. A video containing some of the children from our school carrying out CPR will be part of this online experience. We as a school and nursery will be running a live event later in the year where the children will be able to learn how to do CPR again with trainers. The online event is running from 9am in the morning until 9pm at night and all school and nursery classes will be dropping in at some point during the day. We thought this would be a great introduction for some pupils and children and a nice refresher for others.
We felt it was helpful to share this information with you at this time.
Improvements
We’re excited to share the wonderful improvements happening in our outdoor spaces! Thanks to the support of our families, children are now enjoying a new wooden picnic table and freshly organised storage for outdoor resources. Our Bug Hotel has been given a fantastic parent-led makeover, and we’ve expanded our composting area to encourage even more eco-friendly learning. The children are also benefiting from new sports equipment and an enhanced outdoor music making area bringing extra fun and active play to our outdoor time. Looking ahead, we’re planning to build a brand-new sandpit area and would love some helping hands—if you’re interested in volunteering, please let us know!
We are enhancing our indoor experiences by regularly refreshing provocations that spark curiosity and creativity. These are shaped by the children’s current interests, as observed during play, and enriched with the valuable insights shared by parents and carers. This approach ensures our learning environment stays engaging, relevant, and responsive to each child’s needs and passions.
Connecting with Families
Sharing information from home through Personal Care Plans and All About Me sheets is a valuable way to ensure we have a complete and up-to-date picture of each child. By working together, families and staff can build a holistic view that reflects children’s interests, routines, and individual needs. This helps us to plan effectively, celebrate achievements, and identify the right next steps to support each child’s ongoing learning and development. Thank you for reading, completing and returning these quickly.
Values
At nursery and school, we celebrate our core values of courage, compassion, fairness, friendship, respect, and responsibility. These values are introduced through stories and characters in fiction, helping children understand and connect them to real-life situations in their daily play and learning. Together with the children and staff team, we are also exploring ways to represent these values in a new nursery logo. Proposed designs will be displayed in the foyer—please take a look and share your feedback on the Post-it board. While the school children are busy creating posters around these values, in nursery we will continue to explore them through discussions and stories. Thank you for supporting us in highlighting these important values at home and in our community.
Cauliflower Card Designs
If you would like your child’s design to be made in to cards, please return the order form by Thursday 25th September and our wonderful PTA will organise these when ready to be collected.
Family First
We’re excited to share that Family First will be offering parenting support groups throughout 2025/26. These groups provide valuable peer support and evidence-based strategies to help improve family well-being, with sessions tailored for a range of needs including ADHD, Autism, and Speech and Language development.

Voluntary Contributions to Nursery Fund
Voluntary contributions to our nursery fund play a valuable role in enriching the experiences we can offer the children. While core activities are always provided, these contributions help us go further—supporting special resources, workshops, outings, and creative projects that spark curiosity and make learning even more exciting. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly benefits the children by providing opportunities that enhance their development and enjoyment at nursery. We appreciate your involvement and engagement with all aspects of nursery life and look forward to working with you again this year. Contributions can be made via ParentPay. Thank you so much to those families who have already donated.
As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery. We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.
