Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Feedback Thursday
Just a reminder that on Thursday, it is Feedback Thursday. Can all home learning jotters/project work be brought into school with your child.

Celebrating Children’s Achievements
We always enjoy celebrating our children’s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.

Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. Learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming. In order to submit the information about your child’s out of school achievements, please complete the Google Form using the link below.  Please note the link will feature each week in our Friday newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.

Achievements Outside of School Google Form

No photographs are required. We will display your child’s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school.  As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents/ carers in relation to this.

House Reward
On Friday 3rd October, the house with the most weekly wins this term will get a Games Afternoon as a reward. It is all still to play for so we will email at the end of next week to confirm the winning house. They will be able to wear a self-coloured t-shirt or jumper in their house colour for the event too if they wish- more information to follow.

Restart a Heart
You may have heard that ‘Restart a Heart’ and the ‘Scottish Government’ are having a livestream cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training event soon. This will be held online on Oct 1st 2025 and is led by Scottish Ambulance service. A video containing some of the children from our school carrying out CPR will be part of this online experience. We as a school will be running a live event later in the year where the children will be able to learn how to do CPR again with trainers, in the school. This event is running from 9am in the morning until 9pm at night and most classes will be dropping in at some point during the day. We thought this would be a great introduction for some pupils and a nice refresher for others.

Primary 2: Health and Wellbeing
As part of the Health and Wellbeing programme in Primary 2, our children will be ‘Talking Pants.’

This is a resource from the NSPCC to support children’s skills in relation to Sexual Health and keeping themselves safe. The class teachers will be using all of the resources from the NSPCC to teach this subject in a fun, age appropriate and non-scary way.

To support your understanding of what we will be discussing with the children, the link for information for parents and carers can be accessed here:

www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/support-for-parents/pants-underwear-rule/.

This has helpful tips and ways to ‘Talk Pants’ with your children in your home setting. It is a great resource that we feel helps to tackle a subject which can be difficult to address, in a fun way.

If you have any questions about this subject or the resources please contact me at the school on 0141 570 7260 and I will be happy to talk through any queries.

Digital Devices, including Smart Watches
We want to thank you for your continued support as we work to maintain a focused learning environment. As a reminder, we have a policy regarding personal electronic devices.

If your child brings a mobile phone to school, it must be switched off and kept in their bag from the moment they arrive until the school day is over. This includes time spent in the playground before the school day.

With smartwatches now having features like calls, messages, and video, we strongly discourage them from being worn at school. If a child wears a smartwatch, all communication and recording features—including calls, messages, sound, or video—must be completely disabled during school hours. If these features cannot be disabled, the smartwatch must be left at home.

If a child is found to be using a mobile phone or smartwatch inappropriately in class or on school grounds, the device will be taken from them and can be collected from the school office at the end of the day.

This is a great opportunity to talk with your children about digital safety and responsible device use, and the importance of having time away from devices and screens to focus on learning and interacting with others. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and productive school environment.
