Open Classrooms
We are very much looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming parents/carers into school on Monday 15th September for Open Classrooms. We invite P1-4 parents between 2:30pm and 3pm and ask that you enter via the Clarkston Road Gate please. P5-7 parents, we look forward to welcoming you between 1:45pm and 2:15pm and we ask you to enter and exit via the main front door at reception. We look forward to seeing you then if you are able to pop in to join us.

Volunteers – We Need You Please
We are always looking for new ways to involve our parents, carers and families in our school and nursery events. To support us with gathering a list of regular volunteers we would like to share our new volunteers Microsoft Form with you. Some of our regular opportunities involve local walks, serving teas and coffees, parental speakers to visit classes, helping to keep our outdoor spaces and gardens tidy and helping in our school library. If you would be happy to volunteer as a one off or more regularly then please complete the form below and we will be in touch with you. There will always be a member of staff present with you too. There will also be QR codes located at the school office and near to our school gates where you can access the form anytime. Alternatively, our volunteering form can be found on our school and nursery website. Thank you so much for your continued support. We really appreciate it!

Personal toys during playtime and lunchtime eg cards, small animals or figures
We understand that some children enjoy bringing small items from home to play with outdoors during break and lunchtime. However, these can sometimes lead to disagreements or fallouts, which may continue into the classroom. In addition to this, precious toys can get accidentally broken too.  As a staff team, we have agreed that if children wish to bring in cards or small toys to play with outdoors, they are welcome to do so on Fridays only.  However, I would like to stress that this is entirely optional. Many of our children are really creative at making up their own games and also love playing traditional activities such as TIG. We actively encourage this kind of play. In addition, all playgrounds are equipped with ropes, hoops and balance boards for the children to enjoy too.  Thank you very much for your support.

Cauliflower Cards
The children have been busy in class designing their Cauliflower Cards and these will be sent home, along with an order form on Friday 19 September. You are more than welcome to create an alternative design at home with your child, if you wish.

Please may we ask that all completed order forms, along with the completed design are returned to the school office no later than Thursday 25 September? Details on how to order can be found within the order form. Please note, this is an optional activity and there is no need for you to place an order.  If you have any further questions, please contact our wonderful PTA at netherleepta@gmail.com

Electrification of the East Kilbride to Glasgow Line
As part of the East Kilbride Enhancement project, the railway line between East Kilbride and Glasgow is being electrified, and the overhead lines are now live and dangerous, carrying 25,000 volts of electricity. We, Network Rail, ask for your support in reinforcing this vital safety message with your children and encourage you to review the attached leaflet and poster. Further safety resources and materials are available at Network Rail’s website.

Primary 6/7:  Concern Raised by Local Resident
for Children’s Safety
I’m sure we all agree that the safety of our children is always of utmost importance and we are very grateful to our parents and also the local community for helping us with this.  Please see an email below that I have received from a local resident that I would like to bring to your attention.  We will also speak to the children in school and at assemblies about this too.  Thank you.

I stay in First Avenue and the last couple of mornings there are kids in a group of 10 or so racing up and down the street from 8am each morning.

They are cycling on the pavement and cutting on to the road and also coming out from the lane which leads to the school right on to the road without checking for cars.

Some of the boys are also here at night time in their school hoodies cycling up and down around dusk and are really difficult to see.

Please raise this with the children and their parents before we have an accident.

P7 Residential Trip Information Session
One of the exciting aspects of being in P7 is our annual Residential Trip. With that in mind I would like to invite you and your child to an information evening in our atrium at 7pm on Tuesday 16th September to share the details of this.

We have made a booking with Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead (LGH) for 26th to 29th May and Liam from Lochgoilhead will be joining us to lead a presentation and answer any questions you may have.

Children are welcome to come along to the meeting to find out about the residential week. We would ask that all children refrain from having their mobile phones out (if they have one) during this meeting.

After the meeting we will send further information in relation to the trip. We look forward to seeing you on 16th September.

As always, we are always here to help in any way we can, whether that be about your own child or a more general matter in relation to the school or nursery.  We are also always looking for suggestions and new ideas so please don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.

Have a wonderful weekend.
