Hello everyone,
Another fantastic week in nursery!
Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up. This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.
Stay and Play week beginning 27th January
Sign up sheets will be available for your convenience in the foyer from Monday 13th January. There are opportunities to come in each day. We encourage only one person per child to attend if possible. This helps to ensure there is a safe and enabling environment for all children.
Nursery Application for New Session 2025-26
The early learning and childcare application for session 2025-26 is currently open online but will close at the end of this month. This application is for children who will be 3 years old or over from the 1st of March this year. The initial deadline for submitting an application is 31 January 2025 when it will close for approximately 8-12 weeks while applications received are processed thereafter it will reopen for late applications. If you have a child who will be entitled to a nursery place in session 2025-26 and you haven’t already applied, please ensure you do so before the end of this month. Applications are due to be checked and confirmation will be issued from the Early Learning and Childcare Team in due course.
Parent/carers of children who already have a placement and who wish to apply for a change of setting or provision can also submit an application, however a change to a child’s current allocation is not guaranteed.
Please complete the form at the following link while reading the guidance within the application: https://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/apply-for-a-nursery-place-for-3-or-4-year-olds-2025-26
Diversity Month and Diversity Evening
Monday 13 January marked the start of our school’s Diversity celebrations with Diversity Evening being held on Thursday 30 January from 6.30pm -8pm.
We already have some visitors organised to come and speak to the children however, there are still opportunities for more parents/carers to come in a share with the children about their home language, culture and religion as well as any particular skills you have i.e. cultural cooking, dance, sport. If you have experience of a neurodiversity or you work in a workplace that is typically dominated by one gender, Mrs Linn would really love to hear from you.
Space for stalls at Diversity evening are also available- you could be selling some homemade cooking, crafts or sharing information about you religion or heritage. The possibilities are endless! Please email Mrs Linn at SchoolMail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk if you are able to help or if you have any further questions.
Netherlee Chatter Café
All nursery and school parents and carers are very welcome to come along to our Chatter Café on Friday 31st January from 2:45pm in our school Hub. This is an extremely informal opportunity to chat to members of the Leadership Team and to meet other parents and carers to share your thoughts and ideas about any aspect of Netherlee life! You’ll also be able to enjoy some tea, coffee and delicious home baking, made and served by a group of pupils too! Please do pop in if you can- we really look forward to seeing you.

Loose Parts
Thank you to those who have donated loose parts already. We are still happy to receive donations of; Corks, old CDs, milk top lids, buttons, cotton reels, wool, fabric book samples, leather offcuts.
Toys
We would appreciate your help with discouraging the children from bringing toys to nursery. This can sometimes result in their precious toys being broken or misplaced and we would want to avoid any disappointed children. We have plenty of materials and toys available in the nursery.
Achievements
We invite all families to send in by email or bring in news or photos of achievements that we share on our WOW display. The children and staff love to celebrate achievements and they are excellent, relevant talking and listening contexts. These could also be added to the ‘special books’ as and when they are celebrated. Look forward to sharing your success!
Languages
If you speak more than one language, we would love to learn from you. Please share your skills with us!
Poetry Focus
Please let us know of any budding poets that would be willing to share their work with us. Look out for some fabulous poetry on display in the next few weeks.
