Languages – We have been learning more about sport in French with Ms Patterson; we had the opportunity to create a Hi 5 French languages video and other activities, which included reading, speaking and writing. This week we have also played double jeopardy, counting numbers 1-11 in Polish and in Hindi. In spelling, we have been learning about American and British English spelling of words, we have found this very interesting. We were also doing poems about space this included learning about different types of rhymes and using them effectively within our poems and stanzas.

Numeracy – We have been learning about budgeting with Ms Sinha, which has also included learning about interest and money. Some of us have been learning about multiplying and dividing with decimals. With Ms Clark, we have revisited scale and applied it to our Expedition work to scale the solar system looking at both the scale of the diameter of the planets and sun as well as the scale of the distance between all of the planets. To further develop our learning we created posters of our learning to be a part of our new wall display in class.

HWB/RE/ Committees – We have been learning and having philosophical discussions about Lent and the Stations of the Cross. This has included reflecting on who was there to help Jesus and trying to make connections within our own lives when we have been supportive, or shown love and gentleness in times where we have been met with adversity. On Friday, we will go around the Stations of the Cross with Canon Eddie in the playground and further reflect on this important time within the Liturgical Calendar. We also learned whom missionaries are and made our own Missionary flags. When we learned about Missionary work through the charity Missio we realised how we are all missionaries and each have an important role in our lives to spread love and help others who are in need. Our committee work has linked very well with our RE and HWB lessons, we took time to create Jamboards and posters linking with the UNCRC and Global Goals. Some of us made PowerPoints that we presented to the class too. This cross-curricular experience allowed us to realise what a good committee member is and what their most important entities are which have parallels to that of the Missionary work we were learning about within RE. We also engage in a class debate linking to the most recent Picture News where the focus was freedom of speech and Gary Linekar. We are looking forward to doing more debating next term with Ms Clark. Ramadan has started, this is a significant time for pupils who are fasting and promoting acts of kindness such as charity for their Muslim faith.

Budgeting group – We have made a PowerPoint for meeting the Director of Education this week.

Expedition – We have been pushing ourselves by creating interesting work on planets and the solar system; we have created art, we had a focus within our literacy to create metaphors directly linked to the theme and numeracy to learn in more depth about scale and radius, we have also been further developing our meta skills by learning to be independent in our work.

School Trips – Last night we went to the school to learn more about Lockerbie, “we are feeling both scared and excited”, P7c.

Transition – Ms Wilson came and visited us at assembly to talk about St Ninian’s, “it is exciting getting prepared for a different school”, Tristan.
