P7C May Blog

Languages – We have been learning a lot in Mandarin this month including; how many siblings we have, favourite food and drink, as well as numbers and currency. We have been learning a little less French this term but still practising our skills. Ms Clark has been calling us up to have us recite our numbers in our ‘Mother Tongue’, giving us an opportunity to lead the class. In St Ninian’s we went to the languages department where we did a French class. We learned that the languages department teach French, Spanish and Mandarin.

Numeracy – The triangles have been learning about Speed, Distance and Time, we have also been learning about perimeters. The circles have been learning about top-heavy fractions and mixed fractions. We completed some whole class lessons on Time to consolidate our learning. St Ninian’s Math Department came to our class and we completed a ‘Murder Mystery’ Maths Challenge with them. Mishika and Daniel represented P7 as part of the Maths Challenge competition.

RE – P7 Confirmandi received the sacrament of Confirmation this month. We also went to St Cadoc’s Church to attend Mass recently, it was wonderful to be back in the church. We are attending the Thanksgiving Mass this week to celebrate all of the children who have received their sacrament this year from P4 and P7. It has been the month of May and we have taken time to pray to Mary each day.

HWB – During PE we did some Danish Longball and we did some Handball. We have also been doing Tennis and Rounders. Some of us got to take part in PE at St Ninian’s we all experienced different sports. Mr Kerr came in to talk to us as part of a Pastoral Assembly we also got to take part in PSHE classes during our time as part of our transition days at St Ninian’s.

Expedition/Committees Lara and Finn went to talk to the director of Education to discuss our Expedition work and Committees that we have been developing this year. We have a new Expedition called, ‘What Matters to Me’; we have been working a lot in partnership with P7D. We have focussed on our families and created an autobiography, which we will display alongside our autobiographical box. We were asked to bring in baby photos, which will be shared at our Leaver’s Assembly as part of a montage video. We have also made Family Trees to explain our family heritage.

Transition – We had our induction days last week and got to mix with P7s form across all of the cluster schools, which gave us an opportunity to make new friends. We had our own individual timetables, which allowed us to experience computing, science, PE and other subjects just like we will in High School next year.

Sporting Heroes – St Cadoc’s Netball Teams played a friendly against St Joseph’s and performed very well! The school Chess Team competed in an inter-school festival at St Ninian’s High School and won.

Highlights!

Aine – winning her recent tennis match.

Freya/Lara – coming first in their dance competition for cheer and hip-hop, both also competed very well as part of the solo elimination round reaching the semi-finals.
