P7b March’23

We have had another very busy month.   Throughout Lent we have taken the time to think about others and have reflected on our Lenten promises. We have also continued our learning about the Sacraments of Initiation and symbols of the Holy Spirit.  We are enjoying our preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Some children in our class have been fasting throughout Ramadan and have shared some of their experiences with us to help us understand how important this time is for people within the Muslim faith.

In French we have had the opportunity to work with Ms Patterson and have been learning to say, read and write lots of sports vocabulary in French.   In writing we have been learning to write reports based on current topical news and we have also designed and created information leaflets linked to our learning in Life Beyond Land.

In Numeracy and Mathematics some of us have been learning about Financial Education and now know more about bank accounts, credit cards (calculating APR) and foreign exchange rates. Some children have been learning about patterns and sequences and how to calculate speed, distance and time.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Expedition, Life Beyond Land and valued the opportunity to lead our learning in this way. Some of the areas we have investigated are; Space and the Solar System, natural disasters and Greek Mythology.  We are looking forward to our final term in St.Cadoc’s and we know it will be both a very busy and exciting term for all of us.

In Science were able to use a Bunsen burner and were able to burn magnesium ribbons which created a very bright white light. In Art and Design we did some leaf drawings and drawing of animals using stencils.  In Business we created a new ride in Disneyland and created advertising for it. We were very tired after these visits!

November/December’22

7b have had an incredibly busy couple of months.

In writing, we have been learning about poetry and have been focusing on: alliteration, repetition, personification and similes. Additionally, we have been learning to write diary entries and a personal review of a book.  We have also been learning to write letters for different reasons and some of us have written a letter to Bishop John asking to be receive the Sacrament of Confirmation next year.

We have completed our novel study, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and although it was incredibly sad we enjoyed it a lot and felt it was a good story to read at our age.

In Numeracy some children have been learning to calculate fractions of quantities, find equivalent fractions and convert a fraction to a decimal and then to a percentage. Some children have been learning about Data Handling and have been created both line and bar graphs and have been evaluating data that has been misleading.

We participated fully in Health Month throughout November and particularly enjoyed the Ninja Challenge and Move it Monday.

We have completed the Healthier Minds understanding Anxiety lessons and found these very beneficial. We now are more aware of what anxiety is and the parts of the brain and the body that anxiety can have an impact on. We have all learned about and developed many strategies that can help us in challenging times.

We have all been learning about Advent and have been preparing for the birth of Jesus.  We took part in a fantastic Advent Assembly and this was very special for us to be able to invite our families into school to celebrate with us as this is our last year in Primary school.

we hope you all have a very happy, holy and healthy Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes. P7b
