January 2023

Our January has been very busy!

We went to the forest with primary 3 and we taught them to build cairns. We had to teach them what a cairn is, what materials to use and how to make it stable. We had to communicate well. It was great to work with them.

We have been taking part in Bikeability sessions where we have learned how to do a safe start and a safe stop as well as learning the road signs and the road position that is best. We managed to achieve level 2 in our Bikeability which we are very proud of.

A couple of weeks ago we went to St Ninian’s and took part in the cluster ceilidh. It was a great way to meet some people from others school that will be there when we go to high school.

One of the things  we have really enjoyed is practising for the Eurovision Song contest that our whole school is taking part in. We are singing ‘Voulez-Vous’ by Abba. We chose French as our language. We have so much fun signing it with P7b and can’t wait to perform it later today.

We have started our expedition ‘Life Beyond Land’ which we are very excited about. We have made some big questions that we would like to focus on more. We are going to be looking at space, weather conditions, planes and rockets and life under the sea. Now, we are going to create some little questions and find out more. We are excited to learn in a different way.

Over the next few weeks we will be going to visit St Ninian’s which will be great as we are excited to see where we will be going after we leave St Cadoc’s and to meet some of the teachers there.

October 2022

Over the past month we have learned about a variety of different things. Here is a little bit about what we have been doing.

In Maths, this session we have been learning about weight, perimeter, distance speed and time as well as percentages and time durations. We have also spent time working on our mental maths using the Blueprint boards. We have enjoyed some problem-solving competitions in class where we have had to work as a team to solve the problems before the other groups.

In Literacy, this session we have been learning about plurals and have written two balanced arguments in writing about whether school uniform should be banned or not and the pros and cons of homework. We have spent time trying to improve our French. We know how to talk about our favourite sports.

This session we have done a lot of Bikeability and are ready to go for road sessions. The things we have learned about are indicating, which we have to do for three seconds, slowing down at a give way and checking if the road is clear. We have also learned to control our bike, and the importance of keeping to the left hand side to stay in your lane and to avoid a crash. It has been really fun and we all enjoy to learn to stay safe on our bikes. We are really looking forward to our on road sessions!

We have recently started health month in our school and are looking forward to meeting visitors especially a sports superstar this Thursday.

This is our class blog for this session and we hope you enjoyed learning about what we got up to in October. See you soon for our next class blog!

Sepetmber 2022

As a class we have just started our last year in St Cadocs as
primary 7a. We hope to achieve great things in the next
year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.
We have enjoyed every single one of our subjects this year
and have done many things already.

Literacy

We will be covering lots of different topics in literacy, we
have already started working on many things here are some
of them:
In grammar we have covered Standard English, how to
structure a sentence which includes identifying the subject
and predicate, homophones and homonyms.

We have completed a few different writing pieces so far.
Some of our favourites have been the Loch Ness monster
newspaper article, The Howl and the magic escalator. We
had to make sure we added in a lot of descriptive language
to engage our reader.

Maths

We have spent a lot of time revising different concepts that
we learned in Primary six. We have started a variety of
different topics including decimals, volume and time. We
have lots more to cover this year and we are ready to take
on the challenge.

Expressive Arts

Our class enjoys doing art so we do it every week. We have
been focusing on a variety of elements including proportion
and shading. A couple of weeks ago we used oil pastels to
create an image of a toucan. We had to work in teams to
create a drama using only one sentence. We had to work
together to come up with different characters and a plot.

It has been a great first month in Primary 7. We have so
much more to do this year and we are looking forward to
Lockerbie and bikeability.
