Happy New Year!

Wow, we have been really busy this month! We all made our New Year Resolutions and we have been trying really hard to keep them.

In literacy, we started our class Novel, “Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe” and have linked all our comprehension activities. In writing, we wrote an imaginative story all about entering the wardrobe and discovering Narnia. We included lots of feelings and of course we used excellent openers to begin our sentences.

In Numeracy, we have been developing our mental skills by practising adding and subtracting larger numbers. We have continued to work on word problems by recognising key words and phrases. We have also added a new practical mathematics area to our class which helps us to reinforce previous learning.

This month, we launched ‘Life Beyond Land’. We thought about ‘Big Questions’ that would be appropriate on our expedition. This led us on to smaller questions that we have been trying to find the answers to. We have displayed all our information in the classroom and even have a ‘Wonder Wall’ which we can added to everyday. It’s really exciting!!

Primary 5a have also been involved in live lessons-Eco-Schools-“Paws on Plastics” and “Global Citizenship”. We learned lots of important ways to look after our planet and how we can make things better.

Finally, we have been very lucky to have a student teacher in our class. Miss Anderson has been helping us in all curricular areas.
