Primary 5a have again had a very busy month!! We have continued to work on imaginative writing and we wrote stories about being ‘Lost’ and ‘Hallowe’en Night’. We also chose our own titles for our last piece of writing. Our stories included all the different success criteria that we have been working on in class.
In numeracy and mathematics, we have been practising fractions and learning about area. We have completed lots of different problems using different strategies. In outdoor learning, we have been developing our skills in recognising angles and directions which has really helped with our work in class.
This month, we celebrated ‘Catholic Education’ Fortnight. Some of us attended masses and we spent a lot of time discussing the theme ‘Communion, Participation, Mission’.
Advent has finally arrived so our class has changed our ‘Remembrance’ display to the signs and symbols of Advent. We have also spent time to reflect on how we can get ready for Christmas. Well done everyone who spotted lots of changes in Mass on Sunday. Remember the liturgical colour has changed to purple and we now listen to readings from St Matthew.
November has been really exciting!! Ninja challenges, Danceathons and St Andrew’s Day Celebrations. Our class raised lots of money for school resources. Well done!
Finally, we can’t wait to go to the Christmas Fayre. Our class designed ‘Rainbow Christmas Tags’ to sell at the ‘Enterprise’ stall. We recently moved to functional writing- instructions so we linked how we made the ‘Tags’ to complete a set of instructions. Lots of fantastic openers and imperative/ bossy verbs!!
We have now to choose a country of our choice and create a PowerPoint, leaflet or a poster to show Christmas traditions. Everyone is really looking forward to finding out about Christmas Around the World.
Enjoy the Christmas Fayre
